For those who love all things cute and creative, Work in Progress Studio in Johor Bahru offers a unique workshop experience where you can create your own personalised bag charms. Inspired by the popular Moru dolls from Korea, customise your very own tiny plush down to the finest details, from the texture of the fur to the perfect outfit.
The current exchange rate is RM1 = ~S$0.30 as of 15th January 2025.
Unlike typical DIY plushie projects, where your choices are limited to colours and clothing, Work in Progress Studio takes personalisation to the next level. Here, you have the freedom to design every intricate detail of your plushie bag charm, including its facial features, accessories, and even down to trimming the fur to your preferred style, making it a one-of-a-kind keepsake.
For RM88, you get a Moru doll as well as 10 tokens to exchange for accessories.
Your bag charm creation starts with picking out your base doll, crafted from a special bendable material that allows you to mould and adjust its shape for added customisation. There are a bunch of different colours to choose from whether you plan on making a classic brown bear or a gothic black bunny.

From there, let your creativity flow as you select the perfect eyes, noses, and other features to bring your plush bear to life. It’s totally up to you to decide on the colours of its features and where to place them. Here’s a lil pro tip: for a Mr Bean’s teddy bear look, place the features nearer together. Alternatively, do the opposite to get a Sylvanian Families collectables look.
The fun doesn’t stop at the basics. There’s a huge array of accessories to style your doll with, including tiny clothes, beads, and even luxury-style bags to adorn your bear. 1 token can get you 2-3 accessories while bigger items like clothing will require 2-3 tokens.
Outfits include extravagant dresses, knitted sweaters, and even hanboks. Topped off with the quirky addition of mini designer-inspired bags or sunglasses, your charms will look extra stylish and adorbs.
Once you are satisfied with the look of your doll, bring it over to the mini sets within the studio to take cute pics of your new furry friend.
To end off your visit, pass your doll to their staff to get packed in a puffy bag to protect your masterpiece.
Whether you’re looking for a fun activity during your weekend getaway or want to create a heartfelt gift for someone special, Work in Progress Studio offers a delightful way to unleash your creativity. With endless options to customise your very own Moru doll bag charm, this workshop promises a unique and memorable experience.
