Instagram-worthy walkways
Here’s an idea for your next OOTD – instead of the usual hypebeast along a graffitied street or well-dressed minimalist at a quaint cafe, try channelling Vogue or high fashion supermodels along quirky and runway-esque walkways around Singapore.
We combed through the Singapore map to uncover these 5 trippy walkways you can potentially turn into your own catwalking platform.
1. Alexandra Technopark Underpass
Traverse through this space vortex that is the Alexandra Technopark Underpass.
On her: Slanted Block Heel Boots in Pewter ($75.90), Wire Frame Rectangular Shades ($59.90), Nylon Strap Zipper Pouch ($55.90)
Look and feel like a space commander-in-chief in this flared sleeve V-neck dress, rectangular shades, and electric blue zipper pouch.
Slip on these reflective pair of shades to block out the haters.
Boots are the ultimate accessory to channel a powerful, fierce look. Blend in with the silver walls of the tunnel by wearing these metallic pewter boots and you might really pass off as a strong-woman type character in a classic sci-fi blockbuster – Star Trek anyone?
To really get the space theme across, try throwing up your bag, or perhaps jumping in the air to create the illusion that you’re in zero gravity zone.
Getting there: 438 Alexandra Road. Turn left facing Alexandra Point to see underpass.
Nearest MRT station: Pasir Panjang MRT
2. Changi Airport Linkway
On her: Asymmetrical Flats ($46.90), Top Handle Shoulder Bag in Blue ($69.90), Acetate Frame Sunglasses ($69.90)
This is not your average linkway. Changi Airport Linkway has never-ending rows of panelled floors with dim, futuristic lighting where you can werk it like you’re a contestant on Asia’s Next Top Model.
For a winning entry – put on those tinted butterfly shades, cool dark blue asymmetrical flats and complete the colour coordination with a matching blue glossy shoulder bag.
The flats and carry-on are a luminous blue, a stand-out against the understated plain white tee and two-toned jeans.
Change up your accessories with this fun and quirky patent blue tote, a refreshing change from the usual pastel and minimalist colours
Getting there: Take escalators up from MRT platform. It is the linkway connecting T2 and T3.
Nearest MRT station: Changi Airport
3. Bayshore Park Tunnel
The Bayshore Park Tunnel connects Bayshore Park Condo to East Coast Park – its undulating facade painted yellow with a slight orange-y tinge. The eye-catching colour and wavy textures act as a perfect backdrop for this LBD and funky heels combo.
Pair this cool black dress with velvet chunky-heeled sandals and make your statement
On her: Thick Strap Heeled Sandals in Grey ($59.90), Wireframe Aviators ($69.90)
These velvety chunky heels take all the spotlight in the getup, as they should. The velvety texture gives it a special flair of light and dark greys, and when juxtaposed with the Bayshore Park, makes it all the more interesting to look at.
Throw on a pair of shades to accentuate the overall look
Want to rock that minimalist black and white aesthetic? East Coast Park is also home to this trippy black and white underground walkway – it comes with a largely white background and black striped panels.
Dress in black to match the black stripes on the wall to stand out from the largely white background instead of blend in
On her: Nylon Strap Tote Bag in White ($75.90), Extended Topline Heels in Green ($56.90)
These top line heels in a muted green add a warm pop of colour to the entire look – a tasteful addition to the getup.
Finish the look with a white bag to complement the backdrop.
Getting there: East Coast Park Service Road. From Car Park F1, walk straight to the end of Xtreme SkatePark.
Nearest MRT station: Bedok
4. One Fullerton Underpass
Stepping into the scene or waiting for a train? At the One Fullerton Underpass, you just can’t tell the difference between standing up straight and lying down on the ground – the linkway is designed to play mind games.
Lie down and angle the camera vertical to the ground to create the illusion as if you’re standing up
On her: Geometrical Frame Sunglasses ($75.90), Knot Detail Handle See Through Bag ($69.90), Ruffle Detail Low Wedge Mules ($43.90)
The contrast between the silver and white walls adds a futuristic element to the linkway – perfect for a playful looking accessory like this see through bag. The transparent body of the bag makes it a fun complement for OOTDs in a standout location like this one.
Wearing a pair of shades indoors is the ultimate way to make a fashionable entrance – naysayers be gone! These reflective geometrical shades makes you look extra cool in this setting.
Whether it’s work or casual going out, these wedges slash mules are a great choice for daily wear. Each shoe has a flap on the side – an edgy, modern look that stands out in this futuristic tunnel.
Getting there: Underpass is near The Fullerton Hotel
Nearest MRT station: Raffles Place
5. Fort Canning Park Underpass
Foray into the hidden Fort Canning Park Underpass for a nature-inspired shoot. The dark background with shrubs of greenery emphasises your outfit, but if you’ve got some pretty accessories like these pink strapped bag and pink mary janes to match, you can show them off by wearing a plain white tee with blue jeans.
On her: Blush Grommet Detail Strap Bag ($79.90), Rose Gold Ankle Strap Mary Jane Flats ($53.90)
These V-shaped mary janes add extra length to your legs
The blushy tone adds a feminine touch.
Take shots of you stepping on both the bricked ground and the wall to create the illusion that you’re walking up the wall.
Getting there: Fort Canning Road
Nearest MRT station: Dhoby Ghaut
