The Island Exchange Is A New Festival For Entrepreneurs With #GirlBoss Workshops & Yoga Classes

Things to do at The Island Exchange

Beyonce might’ve asked the rhetorical question Who runs the world? but it’s made all the more obvious with the chimed response of girls. It’s all about girl power these days and even more so with new festivals like Sentosa’s The Island Exchange.

This 1-day festival is on 2 March 2019 with an inspiring lineup of activities tailored for women – everything from morning yoga class to Instagram workshops.

Join #GirlBoss workshops – Instagram tips, Shark Tank pitching, & startup inspo

The Island Exchange’s workshops and panels are led by strong, independent women, from influencers like @mongabong to career women like Love, Bonito founder Rachel Lim. There’s no doubt that they’re all role model material.

Up Your Social Game

When: 9AM-10AM, 2 March 2019

You might know Mongchin Yeoh better by her IG handle @mongabong. She’ll be leading Up Your Social Game, a social media workshop that shows you the ins-and-outs on developing a worthy IG brand. It’s not simply hashtagging the life out of your post – it’s about curating a feed that resonates with your brand.

There’ll be a hands-on activity for you to try taking photos on the greenery of Sentosa Golf Club!

Startup Sessions and speed pitching

When: 10:15AM-11:40AM, 2 March 2019

Startups are hard work: besides burning the midnight oil on your business proposal, there’s also the frantic search for funding support. With Startup Sessions by Found8, startup founders like Seedplus Investor Zhiying Chua and Soho App Founder Jonathan Lui share stories of the good and bad times.

There’s also be a speed pitching sesh, almost like Singapore’s very own Shark Tank since venture caps and investors will be assessing your ideas. HSBC will be offering $12,000 to the winning pitch! Register for the session and submit a 5-page pitching brief to take part in pitching – you can find more info here.

Green Your Life

When: 11:30AM-12:15PM, 2 March 2019

We’ve all been making a conscious effort to stay green – think reusable straws – but women like Stephanie Dickson take it to the next level. As the founder of Green Is The New Black, Dickson will be bringing us through “conscious consumerism”, when we make thoughtful choices instead of spontaneously carting everything out on one of our feel-good shopping sprees.

The panel includes UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador Nadya Hutagalung and Bye Bye Plastic Bags Founder Melati Wijsen.

How They Did It: Leaders Laid Bare

When: 1PM-2PM, 2 March 2019

One of Singapore’s most popular blogshops, Love, Bonito has more than 180k followers on Instagram.

At one point or another, most career women would’ve gone through workplace struggles. In this insightful share-all sesh How They Did It: Leaders Laid Bare, working women like Love, Bonito’s Rachel Lim and The Paper Bunny’s Jaime Lee talk about their personal experiences when starting a new business.

Chow down $15 worth of free food – gourmet hotdogs, green curry pasta, & mini burgers

When: 12:15PM-1PM, 2 March 2019

But before you think it’s all about workshops and classes, The Island Exchange also has an entire zone just for food trucks – the best part of it all? Free $15 F&B vouchers to spend on whatever we like. We’re already salivating over Sawadeecup’s Green Curry Pasta ($10) and The Travelling Cow’s Homemade Mini Burgers (from $6).

Coffee Bandits will be serving up a variety of hotdogs too like Chilli Con Carne ($9) and Fajita Special ($8) – all with a bratwurst sausage and savoury toppings.

There’ll also be coconut water and coconut soft serve by Cocoloco – with cool fresh coconuts to slurp from!

Enjoy fun activities – yoga class & live music

Stretch it out with Under Armour ambassador, Denise Keller.

Align with Denise Keller
When: 8AM-8:45AM, 2 March 2019

After all the workshops and talks, feel free to mingle and work the room – there’ll be live music by local acoustic duos Jack and Rai and free-flow drinks till 4PM.
