Tengah might’ve been called ulu in the past, but the up-and-coming neighbourhood is already shaping up to be a pretty promising one. First, there was the completion of its 5-storey shopping centre, Plantation Plaza, and now, residents have found that there are a total of 11 ultra-cute HDB playgrounds scattered around, all within walking distance of each other.
These aren’t your basic playgrounds either – instead, they’re mostly fruit or nature themed, and loosely inspired by Tengah’s plantation heritage. From banana and elephant-themed slides to treehouse-themed play sets, here’s a rundown of all the adorable play areas kiddos can explore at Tengah.

From giant banana slides resting on a huge watermelon slice, to a larger-than-life pineapple dome, this playground at Tengah Garden Avenue is every fruit lover’s fever dream.

There’s even a mini rope course inside the giant pineapple, where little ones can practice their grip and climbing skills.

Just a stone’s throw away from the pineapple and banana playground is this more challenging durian-themed one. Fit for kids a tad older, this exciting play area plays homage to our national fruit, with durian-themed rock climbing walls, slides, and rope courses.

Here, youngins will need to navigate more complex rope courses and climb up vertical rope ladders to access long tunnel slides.

Yep, the pineapple theme clearly runs pretty strong in the Tengah estate. Unlike the initial ong lai playground mentioned, however, the pineapple play set here takes the form of a giant climbing structure that kiddos will have to meander their way up.

Fitted with mini obstacle courses like balancing beams and stepping pods, this treehouse-themed playground is perfect for young Ninja Warrior wannabes.

There’s even a giant tunnel slide right at the end, which – hear us out, – looks a lot like an elephant trunk at first glance.

The elephant-looking treehouses at block 131B aren’t all the treehouses you’ll find in Tengah – at block 131C, there are 2 more treehouse-themed playgrounds, one for littler ones and another for older kids.

In particular, these mini treehouses are built for tinier tots. Here, you can expect to find low swings and easy-to-climb play sets ideal for ankle-biters who aren’t old enough to take on larger obstacle courses yet.

NGL, this playground looks a little scary even to us. Listed as the tallest playground in Tengah, these treehouse-themed rope courses are sure to satiate your little daredevil’s need for adventure.

To get to the treehouses, kiddos will need to climb tall rope courses and crawl through suspended rope bridges…definitely not for the weak hearted!

For more cute animals, you can also bring your kiddos to block 133C to explore a plantation-themed play space. Like the mini treehouses, this cutesy playground is also toddler-safe, and equipped with small climbing structures decorated with paintings of farm animals like ducks and cows.

Another one for younger tots – aside from a small duo-slide for ankle-biters to swoop down, this leaf-themed play space also has sensory features like moving wheels and suncatchers for kiddos to interact with.

One of the biggest playgrounds at Plantation Crescent, this play area has a bunch of mid-level obstacle courses featuring rope ladders, metal climbing structures and spiral slides for kids to scamper around. And as you leave your kiddos to play, there’s even exercise equipment like elliptical machines for adults to use.

If the aforementioned rope courses are a little too challenging for your child, there’s a smaller version at block 111C that they might be able to navigate. At this playground, there are mini rope ladders and suspension bridges for younger ones to have a go at.

On the flip side, if your little one’s slightly less a climber and more a crawler, they might enjoy this netty playground at Block 111B instead. While there are climbing ropes here, there’s also a long suspending net bridge connecting two of the play sets here, which kiddos can trawl their way through.
