Swatch’s limited-edition ‘Singapore Tale’ watch
Fireworks against the backdrop of Marina Bay, parades and performances are just some of the things Singaporeans look forward to on National Day. This year, Swatch is joining in on the celebrations with a limited edition watch featuring Singapore’s most iconic food and places.
We’re talking durians, Gardens By The Bay and the Merlion so you can keep our little island on your wrist and bring it wherever you go.
The ‘Singapore Tale’ watch
The watch, named ‘Singapore Tale’ was designed by local artist Tan Zi Xi as part of Swatch’s Destination watches, and retails at S$125. Its strap is adorned with places and objects that will fill you with an overwhelming sense of nostalgia such as Toa Payoh’s iconic Dragon Playground, old-school ice cream carts and Tembeling Road’s pastel shophouses – a #throwback to our younger days.
Newer spots like Gardens By The Bay and the Singapore Flyer also make an appearance, reminding us just how far we’ve come as a country. Not forgetting our favourite food and drinks like the much loved Durian, chicken rice and Kopi O that have become a staple in our diets.
The watch face perfectly illustrates the garden city we are today, a concrete jungle brimming with buildings and greenery. The colour blue, on the other hand, was chosen to represent our Peranakan history and culture.
Collect a limited-edition timepiece
Swatch’s ‘Singapore Tale’ reminds us that even with the passage of time, our history will not be forgotten, which is aptly encapsulated in a timepiece. It also depicts the diversity of our little red dot with the various spots and delicacies we know and love.
Sold in limited quantities, Singapore Tale is a watch you’re gonna want to get your hands on pronto, just in time to flex on National Day.
