If there’s anything the mandatory 2.4KM runs from our school days have taught us, it’s that albeit painful, the intense sweat sesh is always worth it in the end. Those who can never run on their own accord can now get motivated with the trio of SpongeBob Squarepants, Crayon Shinchan and Garfield Virtual Fun Runs, happening in Singapore for the first time.
The events will be happening in several phases, from now till February 2022:

Brought in by JomRun, an Asia-based running app, the SpongeBob SquarePants, Crayon Shinchan and Garfield runs offer participants a choice of a breezy 5KM or long-distance 21KM to power their fitness journey forward.
All three runs are held virtually and runners can choose between running their route of choice outdoors or doing it on the treadmill instead. If you can’t complete the full 5 or 21KM in one shot, it’s also perfectly fine to split up the distance across a couple of weeks, as long as you finish it by the event’s end-date.

Arriving first in Singapore is the Crayon Shinchan Virtual Run. Great news for fans: there are not just one, but three Shinchan-themed runs, each with a different race pack and merch.

The race packs for the Crayon Shinchan, Shinchan Biu Biu, Crayon Shinchan Joyful Time and Garfield runs include a Dri-Fit shirt, tattoo stickers, and a drawstring bag. Also get a finishers T-shirt (21KM only) and medal if you complete the event.
Face masks, keychains, tote bags, premium jerseys and hoodies are available at a top-up.

No worries if you haven’t watched an episode of Crayon Shinchan – happening concurrently is the Garfield Virtual Run, with three different merch sets themed after the personality traits of our favourite chonky cat. SpongeBob may have twigs for legs but that’s no excuse to skip on leg day. The sign-up for this run has yet to open and full race pack entitlements haven’t been announced, but you can stay tuned to JomRun’s Facebook page for updates – early bird sign ups get up to 50% off.
