Sunday means family day. And if your fam’s idea of a weekend activity is lazing on the couch at home in front of the TV or window shopping in a mall, maybe it’s time to switch things up. On 3rd September 2023, there’s a chance to gather all the members, young and old, for some outdoor fun at the Skechers Friendship Walk 2023.
Bond over a 5km leisurely walk or let your competitive spirit shine and run the 10km race. Either way, everyone gets to wear matching t-shirts and gush over goodie bags worth $50. This year the event pack will include a discount voucher to enjoy 40% off the new Skechers Hands Free Slip-ins and GOrun Pure 4 collections.
While the 10km category is reserved for individual runners, the 5km walk is open to all. Individual participants pay a registration fee of $30; 2 buddies joining together pay a fee of $50; and families with 2 adults and a kid under 12 years old can get the family bundle for $70.
If you’re a Skechers member, the same categories are priced at $23, $40, and $60 respectively. Registration for the event ends on 30th August 2023, so it’s time to start sending out invites to siblings, cousins, and friends. The more, the merrier.
Part of your registration fee will go to a good cause too. For every sign-up, Skechers is donating $2 to the Association of Persons with Special Needs (APSN) which will be used to buy shoes for the beneficiaries.
Enthusiastic runners get a 7.30am flag-off, but the village opens at 7am, so get there early to witness the sunrise against the backdrop of Marina Bay. Those going for the 5km walk will start slightly later at 8am.
When the clock strikes 10am, that’s when the exciting stuff happens. Make sure to stay for the Lucky Draw because the winner gets 1 year’s supply of Skechers shoes worth a whopping $1,200. We’ll do the math for you, that’s enough footwear for the whole fam and then some.
In addition, the top 3 winners of the men’s and women’s categories, will be given cash prizes for completing the 10km run in the fastest time.
Btw, you’ll also get a chance to try the newly expanded collection of Skechers Hands Free Slip-ins at the event. Most of us have to sit or bend down to put on our sneakers properly, but this collection has been made for easy fitting without having to bend down and touch the shoe at all.
The Skechers Hands Free Slip-ins collection includes a Max Cushioning Premier model that has been designed with extra cushioning for added comfort, a heel pillow to hold your foot securely in place, and an air-cooled memory foam insole to conform to the shape of your foot. All in all, a shoe suitable for daily walking about.

Whether you’re 5, 30, or 50 years old, you can’t deny the adrenaline rush one gets from reaching the finish line of a race. Even better when you can share that joy with loved ones and create memories together.
In case you didn’t realise, the 3rd of September falls on the weekend at the start of the school holidays too. Reserve that Sunday for this event and go earn that finisher’s medal as a family.

Here are all the best things to do this weekend in Singapore.
Just an hour away from KL!
Taichung is only an hour by High Speed Rail from Taipei or Taoyuan station.
No more stressing over what to get your loved ones for Christmas.
Gone are the days when family photoshoots used to be boring and extra formal.
Meet new-to-Singapore species as well.
