“What is one place you’ll want to travel to after COVID-19 is over?” is a question you’d probably have heard at least once since borders closed earlier this year.
Many of us are already dreaming about our next beach vacation to the idyllic land of Maldives, or the picturesque islands of Bali. But as we look around our little country for fresh experiences, many local tourist spots are offering up new things to do within our shores. Or rather, on our shores – like with Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa’s new “Daycation” package.

New terms have been popping up everywhere, from “Singapoliday” to “workations”. But we’re looking at a “daycation” here which, at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa, means an all-day access to luxurious hotel amenities without having to book an overnight stay.

Don your favourite swimwear and have a dip in their swimming pool, or work on that tan on one of their many daybeds. It’s pretty much a scene out of “High School Musical 3”, and if there were a baby pink piano, Sharpay Evans would already be singing Fabulous.

While you can sit back and lepak by the pool for the full 10 hours, there’s more in store for those who prefer a little sea sports to spice up their day. At their Sea Sports Centre, kayaks, stand up paddle boards and pedal boats are freely available for all guests to use.

For all our IG needs, there’s also unlimited Wi-Fi access so you can spam Boomerangs and snapshots of the golden sunset. Changing rooms, towel service and even parking also come with the package so you can wash up and head back easily after the day’s done.

Look no further than Shangri-La, on our little “overseas” island of Sentosa for your next getaway. We’ll recommend clearing some of those excess annual leaves and going on a weekday to avoid any weekend crowds!
“Daycation” prices:
A “Daycation” pass grants you access from 10AM-8PM, and is priced at $75 per adult. That’s a fraction of the price of a staycay, which is typically $300 and above – if you can even snag a room during this peak period, that is.
This package also comes with up to $50 worth of dining credits which you can spend at Shangri-La’s poolside Siloso Beach Bar, on grub like Pulled Pork Submarine Sandwiches ($16), Chicken Wings ($18/12pc) and Satay ($20).
Or, if you’re anything like me, tipples are the way to go, with a glass of wine (from $14) or a cocktail (from $15) to complete the ultimate beach bum experience.
