We might be well into the year, but we’ve still got a handful of public holidays and long weekends approaching. If you are looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, Sekeping Tenggiri, near the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC), might just be the getaway you need.
Located in Bangsar, just 15 minutes away from KLCC by car, Sekeping Tenggiri is part of Sekeping Retreats, a group of guesthouses located in Malaysia that aim to provide an escape from the city. Inspired by nature, the guesthouse has been designed to transport you into a forest-like environment with its open-air concept and greenery at every corner.

There are 7 bedrooms to choose from, with the newest addition, the Camper Room (RM180/night, ~S$58.03), being the cheapest option. As its name suggests, you get to literally sleep in a repurposed camper van for the vibes.

The guesthouse also offers the Loft Room (RM275/night, ~S$88.67), which features an exposed brick wall for that industrial feel, and the popular Glass Room (RM330/night, ~S$106.39) that overlooks lush greenery.
The rooms are equipped with air conditioning and ceiling fans, so you are guaranteed a cooling night’s rest. Take note that you’ll need to bring your own toiletries, but bath towels are provided.

The guesthouse has its very own 7m x 3m swimming pool. While you won’t be able to clock in your laps there, the pool is perfect if you are looking for a quick afternoon dip. If you aren’t looking to get wet, simply chill around the garden or in the common lounge with one of the many books or magazines available.

Sekeping Tenggiri is also located just minutes away from local F&B options such as Baba Low’s @ Lorong Kurau, where you can enjoy authentic Melaka Nyonya cuisine, and boutique restaurants like Last Project Handroll and Yaki Bar, serving up pork-free Japanese fusion dishes. If you would rather have a relaxed night in, the guesthouse has a kitchenette with a microwave for a quick fix.

The easiest way to get to the retreat is by car, with the guesthouse being just a 15-minute drive from KLCC. However, the retreat itself does not have any designated parking lots, so you’ll have to park along the street outside.
Alternatively, the accommodation is a 20-minute walk from Bangsar Station.
So if you’re on the lookout for a quick getaway from the usual hustle of KL, you might want to add Sekeping Tenggiri to your list.
