Picture this: it’s your lunch break, and you’ve finally reached the mall after walking forever under the sun. You’re sweating all over, and to make things worse, you’ve left your scented body wipes back at the office.
If you’re desperately in need of smelling fresh ASAP, make a beeline for Scentphony, a perfume vending machine that’ll sort you out with a spritz of fragrance in seconds.

You may have seen your fair share of unique vending machines, but this might just be one of the most unexpected. Instead of dispensing snacks or drinks, Scentphony is a perfume vending machine that gives you 2 spritzes of perfume. And the best part? It’ll only set you back $1.

Each machine stocks 5 different scents from various luxury brands, but the lineup gets refreshed occasionally. Right now, you can get a spritz of English Pear & Freesia Cologne by Jo Malone London, Burlington 1819 by Roja, Sauvage by Dior, Wulóng Chá by Nishane, and Replica From The Garden by Maison Margiela.
First, pick your poison by choosing your desired scent from the touch screen, then pay $1 for 2 spritzes. Don’t worry if you’ve forgotten your wallet – the machine also accepts cashless payment, including Google Pay and Apple Pay.
When your payment is complete, the button corresponding to your chosen fragrance will light up. Then comes the fun part – line up your neck or wrist with the nozzle above the button, and it’ll spray the perfume once you press it.
Pro tip: You’ve paid for 2 spritzes, so don’t forget to press again for your second one. Oh, and keep your eyes or face away from the nozzle – the machine will remind you too, but better safe than sorry.
You can currently find Scentphony at 3 malls islandwide, with their most central location being at Marina Square. Easties can find the machine at Downtown East, while Westies can head to Bukit Panjang Plaza.
Find the vending machine near the coach bay at Downtown East and near the money changer at Bukit Panjang Plaza – both located on Level 1. If you’re at Marina Square, you’ll have to head up to Level 2 – it’s right next to the food court, so you can easily get a spritz right before you head back to the office after a meal.
Be a considerate public transport passenger who freshens up after a gym sesh before heading home, or impress your date by greeting them with a nice scent – when you need a quick spritz, give Scentphony’s perfume vending machines a try.
