What once felt like a faraway – “Will it even happen?” – forecast is now becoming increasingly within reach: we’re talking about the fabled railway link between Singapore and Malaysia.
LTA announced that construction of the RTS Link Woodlands North Station had officially wrapped up on 4th September 2026, which brings us one step closer to the opening and operation of the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link, or JB-SG RTS Link for short.
Ahead of the linkway’s launch in early 2027, here’s a sneak peek at the station so you can get proper stoked:

The RTS Link Station is connected to Woodlands North MRT Station on the Thomson-East Coast Line via an underground linkway at Basement 1. It’s similar to how LRT station platforms can be found connected seamlessly to their corresponding MRT stations.

That means you won’t have to leave the station complex to navigate above ground and risk elemental exposure or getting lost. Rain or shine, just follow the handy signs and you’ll be well on your way to JB via a quick 5-minute light rail train ride.

There will also be a dedicated bus stop situated right outside RTS Link Woodlands North Station, so that commuters from all around Singapore can be ferried right to the station’s doorstep. Stay tuned for the list of bus numbers that will be servicing this station!

The Ticketing Concourse is spacious, airy, and pretty atas, if we do say so ourselves. We love the big and bright Departure sign, which gives major Changi Airport Departure Hall vibes and makes the trip feel extra legit.

This fancy carpeted area is the Security Clearance Zone, where bag and security checks will be conducted.

LTA states that the RTS Link can carry up to 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction. This figure was taken from the spatial measurements of the station and cabins, and the team also conducted simulated weight-testing for the train using sandbags.

The RTS Link spans 4 km, and part of the track sports a Viaduct Aesthetic Feature that’s built to look like 2 hands clasping together – symbolising the partnership between Singapore and Malaysia. Awww! How wholesome is that?

Upon your return from JB, you’ll pass through the Basement 1 Arrival Hall’s digital immigration gateways and be able to head straight to Woodlands North MRT Station for your commute back home. It doesn’t get more seamless than that! And the best part? No Causeway traffic jams to add extra hours to your journey back and forth.

Each passing day brings us closer to yet another way to travel from Singapore to JB, and a new, snazzy, super quick and efficient one, at that.
