If you’re someone who heads straight for the Daytona USA or Maximum Tune machines whenever you visit an arcade or love movies about fast cars, buckle up. Rounding SG is a new space for anyone with a fondness for all things 4-wheeled.
It’s a new car cafe that occupies the space vacated by the now-closed Wheeler’s Yard, perfect for car enthusiasts, even if you don’t have your driver’s license yet.

You’ll find Rounding SG slightly off Balestier Road, past a Chinese temple and a few industrial buildings. But don’t let the exposed concrete, shiny rims, and neon manufacturer logos fool you; this isn’t just another run-of-the-mill car workshop.
If you’re driving, park your car ‘round back and step into a 2-storey space comprising a cafe, racing simulator, and car wash all rolled into one.
The owners rotate cars to feature on the first floor each week.

Judging from the 1993 Mazda RX-7centrepiece on the ground floor and decorative engine parts on display along the walls, it’s safe to say this new cafe is serious about cars.
Now, we know not everyone has the luxury of having a real-life car. 99Bends, located on Rounding SG’s second floor is perhaps the next best thing.
This sim-racing studio was founded by 2 racecar drivers. They’ve got 6 top-of-the-line racing simulators, where you can race your pals at dizzying speeds even if you haven’t passed your BTT.
Plus, you’ll be able to drive all sorts of automobiles, from single-seat Formula 1 speed machines to the everyday ComfortDelGro Hyundai Hybrid taxi. Each rig is tricked out with professional racecar seats, pedals, and authentic steering. You’ll also get to choose from some of the most scenic roads and tracks to race on. Virtually, of course.

Rates start from $40/hour for members, but first-timers get a 15-minute trial for $10 to see if it’s their sorta thing. There are also games like Mario Kart 8 or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate available for rent for $2.80/hour in their backrooms if racing isn’t your cup of tea.

After weaving through simulated chicanes and navigating sharp corners, you might have worked up quite an appetite. Head downstairs to Rounding SG’s in-house cafe for dishes from their Western-inspired menu, which also includes some local favourites.

Dig into classic American staples like Rib-eye Steak ($30), Oven Baked Truffle Chicken Leg ($21), and their Barramundi ($24) that’s seared to maximum crispiness. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, they also have a bingsu bar that’s open till 2am, perfect for those late-night drives.
The owners of Rounding SG actually flew to South Korea just to learn how to make the Korean dessert. So paired with toppings like strawberry, mango, and watermelon, their ribbons of ice and condensed milk will have that iconic melt-in-your-mouth texture with each spoonful.

If Wheeler’s Yard focused on bicycles, to call Rounders SG the “same thing but with cars” would be a huge understatement. It’s got something for car lovers of all degrees. After filling up on some delicious Rounder’s SG food or putting pedal to virtual metal upstairs at 99Bends, you can also give your beloved set of wheels some TLC.

Part of the compound is reserved for Coatconut, who are offering car washing services. Details are still under wraps as Round SG just opened, but we heard that they also specialise in custom detailing and paint protection to get your vehicle photoshoot-ready. Just like the other tenants, they’re bonafide car fanatics as well. So approach any of their friendly staff for a free quote while you’re there.
