9 Affordable Pre-Wedding Shoot Destinations Near SG For Expensive-Looking Photos On A Budget

Pre-wedding shoot locations near Singapore

Getting married in Singapore is already expensive enough once you factor in the BTO, banquet, wedding rings, and perhaps even a renovation. Add a pre-wedding photoshoot on top of that, and the costs stack up fast, especially once you’re paying separately for gowns, hair and makeup, and photography.

Thankfully, you don’t necessarily have to stick to Singapore for your pre-wedding shoot. Nearby destinations such as Malaysia, Thailand, Bali, and Vietnam have local bridal studios offering packages that can cost less than what you’d expect back home, while giving you a whole new backdrop for your photos. Here are some affordable pre-wedding shoot destinations near Singapore, with packages you can consider.

*Prices listed exclude travel fares and additional costs such as accommodation, attraction entry fees, and transport.

How much does a pre-wedding shoot in Singapore cost?

On average, a pre-wedding shoot in Singapore with a reputable studio costs between S$1,200 and S$3,500. This is typical of studio packages bundled with a photographer, outfits, hair and makeup services, as well as printed copies.

Having said that, there are lower-tier options in the range of S$250-S$800 when you opt for a freelancer and source your own gowns and locations. On the other end, luxury studios offer premium packages from S$5,000 with designer gowns and popular MUAs, sometimes with a videography element included.

1. Johor Bahru, Malaysia

Nearest to SG, so you can save on accommodation

Johor Bahru is probably the easiest overseas option on this list in terms of transport and distance from home. You can simply make the trip across the Causeway in the day, and be back in SG by night, saving on accommodation.

Famous Bridal, for example, offers an indoor pre-wedding package (RM800, ~S$252.30) that includes hair and makeup, edits of 3 different photo poses, and a framed photo print.

For something even more extravagant, they have indoor plus outdoor packages from RM2,388 (~S$750); the most basic package includes 2 gowns and coats, makeup and hairstyling for both the bride and groom, 20 edited soft copies, an album, framed photographs, a slideshow, and prints.

That means you can potentially get your outfits, glam, photography, and physical keepsakes bundled together for around the price that photography alone might cost in Singapore.

As for where to shoot, you can head outdoors for the heritage district’s old-school shophouses and streets, or lean into a more modern look with JB’s cafes and urban backdrops. Alternatively, keep things fuss-free and shoot entirely within the studio.

2. Desaru, Malaysia

For dreamy coastal & beachfront photos

For those who’ve always pictured their wedding photos by the vast blue sea, you don’t necessarily have to hop on a plane to Bali.

Desaru is within Johor too, but swaps JB’s city streets for stretches of sandy beaches and coastal greenery. It suits couples who want that tropical holiday feel in their photos without committing to a long-haul trip.

Johor-based AF Photo Studio offers Desaru as one of its destination pre-wedding options, with its dedicated Desaru outdoor package listed at RM5,680 (~S$1,793). This package includes indoor studio and Desaru beach photography, hair and makeup, 3 gowns and a beach casual outfit, 150-180 professionally edited photos, a premium wedding album, and a cinematic highlights film.

Besides photos by the beach, couples can make a staycation out of the trip and book a night at one of Desaru’s resorts after the shoot.

3. Bali, Indonesia

Clifftops, rice terraces & beaches in a single shoot

Bali is the perfect place for you if you can’t decide on just one aesthetic. Within a single trip, you can have photos taken against dramatic clifftop views, black- or white-sand beaches, lush rice terraces, waterfalls, villas, lakes, and forests – you name it, Bali has it.

Happy Bali Wedding offers a simple pre-wedding package at IDR14.8 million (~S$1,060) covering 2 locations. It includes 2 gowns, a suit, hair and makeup, a bridal assistant, 40 edited photos, and transportation. The listed rate is valid until 20th December 2026.

However, keep in mind that Bali attractions can be rather spread out, so if you plan on covering several locations, consider hiring a private driver for the day.

4. Bangkok, Thailand

Korean-style studios a 2-hour flight from SG

Not everyone wants to spend their pre-wedding shoot sweating through formalwear in the heat. Bangkok’s indoor studios are a solid alternative.

WideAngle Studio in Bang Yai, Nonthaburi, just outside Bangkok, specialises in Korean-style wedding portraits with clean, minimalistic sets. There, you can have your pre-wedding photos taken in polished studio lighting and multiple outfit changes rather than battling with Bangkok’s heat while trying to keep your makeup intact.

Based on a couple’s recent experience, packages start from ฿7,900 (~S$307). Their shoot involved different looks, professional hair and makeup, outfit rental, and posing guidance – handy if you and your partner tend to freeze up the second someone points a camera at you. The couple reportedly received around 400 images just 3 days after their shoot.

Do factor in some extra commuting time, though, since the studio isn’t in central Bangkok.

5. Khao Yai, Thailand

Pretend your pre-wedding shoot was shot in Europe

You don’t have to sit through a half-day flight to Europe just for wedding photos that look like they were taken there. Located roughly 2-3 hours by car from Bangkok, Khao Yai is packed with European-inspired attractions that make convenient stand-ins for Europe itself. Check out our guide to driving from BKK to Khao Yai.

There’s Primo Piazza, with its Tuscan-style stone buildings and European village aesthetic, plus alpacas wandering around. Thames Valley Khao Yai, meanwhile, resembles the English countryside with stone cottages and gardens. For something even grander, Maison Mystique Hotel looks like a European castle.

Bangkok-based CHÉRI Wedding offers pre-wedding photography throughout Thailand and has previously shot with couples in Khao Yai. Its Silver Package costs ฿20,000 (~S$776) and includes 4 hours of photography, 1 photographer, 1 photography assistant, unlimited photos, colour and light editing, and 60 retouched images.

The even more luxurious Platinum Package costs ฿30,000 (~S$1,164) and doubles the shoot time to 8 hours, with 120 retouched images.

Do note that couples have to provide their own outfits, and there is no stated limit on outfit changes. While transport is complimentary for Bangkok shoots, you’ll have to enquire about additional travel charges to Khao Yai.

6. Da Lat, Vietnam

Mountains, forests & flowers

Image credit: Ngoại Cảnh Đà Lạt

If Singapore’s tropical greenery isn’t quite giving you the Pinterest-worthy pre-wedding shoot you envisioned, head to Da Lat. The Vietnamese highland city is surrounded by scenery that’s considerably harder to recreate back home: imagine pine forests, mountains, misty roads, flower farms, lakes, and sunrise viewpoints.

Some of its popular shooting locations include Tuyen Lam Lake and The Florest, and even the surrounding roads and forests can double up as dreamy backdrops.

Ngoại Cảnh Đà Lạt offers outdoor Da Lat photography packages from VND10.9 million (~S$531), based on its June 2026 prices.

Its packages usually include wedding outfits, hair and makeup, bouquets, transport between shooting locations, edited photographs, and all original files. Couples after something more extravagant can even opt for a package involving an outdoor shoot and pre-wedding MV with a floral arch or vintage car at VND25.9 million (~S$1,261).

Entrance fees for paid shooting locations may still be charged separately, so leave some room in the budget for these extras.

7. Hoi An, Vietnam

Shoot among lanterns & heritage shophouses

Image credit: Hoi An Film Studio

For wedding photos that scream “not taken in Singapore”, Hoi An delivers. Hoi An Ancient Town is a UNESCO World Heritage-listed old town filled with mustard-yellow heritage buildings, old wooden shutters, colourful lanterns, traditional Vietnamese architecture, and streets leading towards the riverside. You can keep it casual with everyday outfits, or go all out in your wedding attire and let the old-world architecture provide an artistic contrast.

Hoi An Film Studio offers an entry shoot at VND4 million (~S$195). The 1-hour package includes a photographer, makeup for brides, and 20 edited images.

Those who want something closer to a traditional pre-wedding package can opt for the VND9 million (~S$438) engagement shoot instead. This runs for around 2 hours and includes hair and makeup, a couple’s áo dài or casual outfits, a bouquet, transportation, original photographs, and 30 edited images.

The listed prices are valid until December 2026.

8. Hanoi, Vietnam

Candid city photos

If your Pinterest board leans more fashion editorial than fairytale princess, Hanoi has plenty to work with. Couples can get their photos shot at Hanoi Old Quarter, beside Hoan Kiem Lake, or against the city’s French-colonial facades. You can even use cafes and everyday residential streets as backdrops, or hop on a scooter for some candid street scenes.

Based on one Singaporean couple’s experience with Pixel Studio, their half-day shoot cost around S$400* and included makeup, a suit and gown, all original photographs, and 65 edited images across around 3 locations. They reportedly received over 1,000 original shots just hours after the shoot.

*Do note that Pixel Studio currently asks customers to enquire for a quotation, so treat the S$400 price as a reference from that couple’s experience rather than a fixed current rate.

9. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

City-chic photos

Rounding off the list is Ho Chi Minh City, which works particularly well for couples who prefer polished city shots over forests and beaches. The city provides a mix of French-colonial architecture, museums, cafes, and bustling streets, while its studios are an option if you’d rather keep your shoot completely indoors.

One Singaporean couple who booked TUART Wedding reportedly spent under S$1,000 on their shoot. Their experience involved an entire team comprising a photographer, photography assistant, hair and makeup artist, stylist, and even a translator – useful for Singaporeans who might otherwise be nervous about the language barrier when booking a Vietnamese bridal studio.

With both studio and outdoor locations available around the city, couples can also get several different aesthetics without travelling far between destinations.

Get aesthetic pre-wedding photos on a budget

A destination pre-wedding shoot doesn’t have to break the bank, especially when neighbouring countries offer everything from mountain scenery to elaborate studio sets at prices that are genuinely competitive.

Just remember that the package price isn’t always the final bill. Factor in flights, accommodation, local transport, location entrance fees, and outfits that aren’t already included before deciding whether an overseas shoot makes financial sense.

And if the numbers work out, tacking on an extra day or 2 to turn it into a mini getaway before the actual wedding chaos kicks in is very much worth considering.
