If you happen to be driving to JB for a day trip, take the chance to fill up your tank before you head back to Singapore.
To get a better idea of the price difference between Singapore and Malaysia, here’s a price comparison of similar fuels that you can get in both countries:
| Gas station | Fuel type | Country | Listed pump price |
| Caltex | Platinum 98 with Techron® | Singapore | $4.16 |
| Premium 97 with Techron® | Malaysia | RM5.35 (~S$1.73) | |
| Caltex Diesel with Techron® D | Singapore | $4.68 | |
| Caltex Diesel (Bio) with Techron® D | Malaysia | RM6.92 (~S$2.23) | |
| Shell | Shell V-Power | Singapore | $4.23 |
| Shell V-Power 97 | Malaysia | RM5.35 (~S$1.73) |
Just remember that it’s illegal for foreigners to pump the subsidised RON95 petrol, so make sure you’re pumping RON97 when you fill up at our neighbours’. Also, don’t empty your tank in Singapore just so you can get more fuel in – you still need to have 3/4 of your tank filled up when you cross the checkpoint.
Fuel prices don’t seem like they’ll drop any time soon, and for many of us, that just means thinking twice before every drive. But when you really need to get behind the wheel, these petrol station deals and promotions can help take a bit of the sting out of each top-up.
