Overcooked free on the Epic Games Store

Free stuff is always a welcome sight. And a big player in cushioning the blow of our stay-home period is Epic Games Store. They have been giving away popular titles weekly for free, including cult faves like Grand Theft Auto 5 and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection.
This week’s special is equally sweet, and it’s our favourite chaotic, co-op, cooking game – Overcooked. From now till 11th June 2020, snag this original version of the well-known party game and enjoy some crazy couch madness without having to buy a Switch.
While the first Overcooked doesn’t support online multiplayer like its sequel, you can still have a fun gaming session locally with up to 4 players.

The game’s controls are easy to learn but the real challenge comes with the teamwork required. Even though you just dash, chop, throw and pick stuff up, coordinating the orders gets increasingly frantic when there’s a burning pizza on the left and unwashed dishes on the right. You’re gonna need some 10/10 communication if you want to complete levels with 3 stars.
If you have family or housemates living with you, it’s also a great bonding activity, just use your keyboard to split the controls, or plug in some extra controllers into your computer and you’re good to go. You could even hook it up to a TV or monitor and have a console-like experience without any actual consoles.
Tip: Use PC-compatible controllers such as an Xbox controller.

A free copy of Overcooked will definitely help us tide through the last few phases of social distancing until Singapore is COVID-19 free. On top of that, once you’ve redeemed it, you get to keep the game forever, so you’ll still be able to invite friends over to play once social distancing measures are eased.
All you have to do is create an account, verify it with your email or phone number, download the game and install it. The offer ends on 11th June 2020, so don’t miss out!
