Olafur Eliasson: Your curious journey

Amongst all the date ideas, bringing yours to a museum in Singapore has got to be at the top. It shows that you’re cultured, the exhibits can be an easy point of conversation, and you get to take cute pics for the Gram’. Well, SAM at Tanjong Pagar Distripark is offering free admission to one of their exhibitions, Olafur Eliasson: Your curious journey, before it closes on 22nd September 2024.

All you need to know about Olafur Eliasson

The Icelandic-Danish artist has taken his 30 over years of experience to bring together this travelling exhibition. The first stop was Singapore, after which it will be going to Auckland, Taipei, Jakarta, and Manila.

Expect to see 17 artworks in vibrant hues and exuding ethereal glows. He uses different mediums including ephemeral materials like light, wind, fog, and water to convey various themes.

Many of the artworks feel like they’re temporary, slowly fading in and out – shimmering rainbows, swirling mists, and a spouting fountain.

As you walk through the exhibition, you’re encouraged to get curious about each encounter with the playful artworks.

Over the weekend of 14th and 15th September, there’s also going to be a maker’s market at SAM with live performances, participatory art walls, workshops, and food stalls. Nourish Nook will be serving vegan food and Burmese dishes. Just note that entry to this event, CURIO CITY, is separate from the exhibition and has an entry fee of $5.

Normally, you’d have to pay $15/pax for entry to the exhibition, so save the cash and head down before it ends. If SAM at Tanjong Pagar Distripark seems out of the way, there’s a free shuttle bus from Harbourfront MRT to the museum over the weekends every 30 minutes between 10am and 6pm.
