Bubble Planet Singapore First Look, Plus How To Take Photos Like A Gen Z VS A Millennial

Bubble Planet Singapore

If you’ve been to the Art Science Museum or Ice Cream Museum one too many times, fret not, as there’s yet another IG-worthy exhibition to spend your upcoming weekend at. Mark your calendars as Bubble Planet makes its Asia debut on the sandy shores of Singapore.

Whether you’re a true-blue millennial or coming-of-age Gen Z, here’s the first look at the bubble-themed multisensory exhibit, which is peppered with plenty of immersive set-ups and photo ops. P.S. To all mommies out there, it’s super kid-friendly as well.

All you need to know about Bubble Planet

The whimsical experience first debuted in Milan and expanded into states across the US, Brussels, London, and Barcelona. Singapore is Bubble Planet’s first-ever Asia stop, and the experience will be held at Singapore EXPO from 31st August 2024 onwards.

There are 11 themed rooms to explore. Designed to trick and play with our senses, expect lots of interactive set-ups with optical illusions, VR, and touch sensory rooms. It’s a place for adults and kids alike, and we recommend spending 2-3 hours to finish exploring everything.

LED room

Ocean-themed floor display

The first room you’ll enter at Bubble Planet is the LED Room. As you step onto the underwater floor display, the mirror walls create an illusion of being engulfed by the ocean waves. You can also spot jellyfish and sea turtles swimming right beneath your feet.

Millennials will find a wall in this room and take a straight shot while smiling at the camera. But we all know that the focus here is the floor instead of the trippy mirror background, so opt for a Gen Z squatting pose and look down at the surrounding display for a more exciting photo.

Bubble Ocean

Play volleyball with giant balloons

Gambol around at Bubble Ocean, a room filled with giant bouncy balloons instead of the regular plastic balls we often see in ball pits. Yes, they’re actual balloons, so take note if you have a latex allergy; you might want to check out other exhibits instead. You can ensue in a fun game of volleyball or even a game of tag that is made challenging with the balloon obstacles.

Giant Bubble

Igloo resting spot with light projections

We have always lamented our tiny red dot for not having 4 seasons, but we tropical humans wouldn’t even survive a day in the cold. Head over to the Giant Bubble, an igloo-shaped resting area that feels like you’re in the Arctic but in the comforts of an air-conditioned space.

Chope one of the bean bags for yourself to take a breather before continuing the exhibition. There’s no such thing as boring in Bubble Planet, and you can marvel at the changing light projections.

For this photo spot, sit back, relax, and smile at the camera if you’re a millennial. For a more aesthetic-looking shot, turn your back and pretend you’re in awe of the beautiful projections. Gen Zs, on the other hand, will be going for a high-angle shot. Slightly shelter your face with your hand as if you’re avoiding getting your pictures taken by non-existent paparazzi.

Selfie room

6 interactive photo ops

But first, let me take a selfie. The Selfie Room is just oh so ducking cute. With 6 interactive rooms, you’re spoilt for choice. The rubber duck-covered walls in the duck room make for an unconventional photo background, but it works if you’re going for that quirky IG feed. Or check out the bubble ring room, where you can form a massive bubble around yourself.

I’m pretty sure we all know how to take a selfie. Regular selfies are cool and all, but the front camera, big smiles, and peace signs just don’t cut it for Gen Zs anymore. Instead, flip it to the back camera, unzoom your frame, and congratulations – you’ve just mastered a 0.5 selfie. Plus points if you have a blurry background.

Bubble bath

Swim in a giant ball pit

The Bubble Bath is a giant bathtub filled with clear balls to mimic the look of, well, a bubble bath. Dive into this 1.4m deep “pool”, and you can even swim around the pit. Make sure to look where you’re heading to prevent collision with a random child potentially hiding beneath the sea of balls.

They even added a larger-than-life statue chilling in the middle to make things more realistic. We’re unsure if he’s meant to be relaxing, but we found his emotionless face extremely unnerving.

Balloon getaway

Inspired by “Up”

If you’re deathly afraid of heights, the Balloon Getaway is a hot air balloon simulation that feels way above the clouds without experiencing sweaty palms and beating hearts. Transport into the set of Up in the pastel theme room and overhead of colourful balls.

A classic way to snap a shot is the jump pose. Well, it isn’t the worst; for one, it captures the background, and it looks like you’re having a lot of fun with friends. Getting a pretty background isn’t a priority for Gen Zs. The blurrier the background, and the darker the room, the better. It’s all about the low-effort shots, remember?

Infinity room

Galaxy-looking mirror illusions

The Infinity Room is perhaps the most aesthetically pleasing photo spot for the gram. Endless colour-changing light bubbles illuminate the whole room using mirror illusions, surrounding you in a space that doesn’t quite feel like Earth.

Let’s be honest: we’ve all pulled a peace sign one too many times when taking photos. We can’t deny that it’s a classic, but we want something a little more demure and cutesy. To achieve that, prop one leg to the front and have your hands behind your back to look taller and more proportionate.

VR

Soar through the sky with immersive VR

Another pit stop other than the Giant Bubble, the VR Room has dangly swinging bubble-shaped chairs for you to rest after all that hard work you’ve spent posing. Your body might need a break, though we can’t say the same for your mind. Strap on the VR headset and woosh through the skies of Bubble Planet for the ultimate experience.

Soap bubbles

Machine blowing out endless bubbles

Who says adults can’t be kids again? Playing with bubbles is fun no matter your age, and a trip to Bubble Planet wouldn’t be complete without some actual bubbles. At Soap Bubbles, 2 machines work diligently to blow bubbles around the entire room, which explains the forever-incoming large, soapy spheres engulfing visitors like in a dreamy movie scene.

Sketch and post

Watch your artwork come to life

If you have kids tagging along with you, entertain them at the Sketch and Post interactive station. Choose your colouring templates and colour away.

Once satisfied with your masterpiece, scan the QR code on the paper, and your artwork will appear on the projection screen.

Buy merch at the Interactive Shop

The Interactive Shop is the last in line and where you can snatch all the Bubble Planet merchandise. The space is also in collaboration with The Art of the Brick, so you will also find Lego sets sold in-store. The items are suitable for kids, so grab some gifts if you have young ones at home.

If you feel hungry after having so much fun, there’s a No.17 tea kiosk at the exit. Treat yourself to a croffle or a refreshing cup of bubble tea to cure those hunger pangs.

Get your tickets to Bubble Planet now

Tickets are on sale now and are priced at $21.90/adult and $14.90/child. Kids under the age of 4 can enter the exhibition for free. The exhibit has so much to offer, and we say it’s pretty worth the price and a trip to the East, so gather your friends or family and head down to experience Bubble Planet for yourself.
