It’s hard to imagine the skyline of Singapore without the iconic Marina Bay Sands (MBS). In a couple of years, that view will change for the better with the rise of a new MBS tower that has everyone calling it “Tower 4”. But make no mistake: this new luxury development will be a separate and distinct tower from the 3 existing ones, so don’t expect the SkyPark to extend and magically add a fourth leg underneath its ship.
Still, this new MBS tower is designed by the same architects behind the OG MBS, Safdie Architects, who are also the firm behind Jewel Changi Airport. And after having seen what it might look like in renders, ground was officially broken at the site on 15th July 2025. Here’s a preview of what you can expect from this $10 billion expansion of the iconic Marina Bay Sands.

Marina Bay Sands is a hotel at its core, so it comes as no surprise that the new MBS tower will be home to hundreds of new hotel rooms. 570 suites across 55 storeys, to be exact. It’s also rotated at a 45-degree angle to offer panoramic views of Marina Bay, Gardens By the Bay, as well as the Singapore Strait.

Flanking the ends of each guest floor are also garden terraces that increase in area as they rise, almost like the shape of a V.

Is it really another Marina Bay Sands tower if it does not have a rooftop deck that has everyone wanting to visit? The new MBS tower will also sport a rooftop structure dubbed Skyloop, and it’ll span a cool 76,000sqft; for reference, the Sands SkyPark is around 107,000sqft. Although it might be just a touch smaller, it’ll stand slightly higher than the Sands SkyPark at 245 metres above ground, so if you ever wanted a higher vantage point of Marina Bay, this is it.
The underbelly of the Skyloop will be clad in shimmering metal panels, inspired by fish scales. As the sunlight hits the Skyloop, the hull will reflect and refract the light in a kinetic fashion.

For members of the public who don’t have a room at the hotel, the Lower Skyloop will still be open to them. There will be a 300-foot-long public skywalk and an observatory, as well as a multi-purpose wellness terrace that can host tight-knit community events.
The Lower Skyloop will have 300ft of a public skywalk and observatory. The top level of the lower skyloop is a multi-purpose wellness terrace that can acocmmodate specialty programmes and events.
A few floors up on the Upper Skyloop will be a space reserved exclusively for hotel guests, where they can lounge in private cabanas and in infinity pools. There’ll also be plenty of palm trees to provide shade, and a wellness terrace that’s cantilevered off the edge 650 feet above the ground for yoga, arts, and other specialty events.

It doesn’t hurt for Singapore to have another space where mid-sized concerts and events can take place, especially near all the hotels in the Marina Bay district. The new MBS tower will have a podium attached to it adjacent, taking up the space in between Tower 1 and the new Tower 4.
While its exterior has a similar aesthetic identity to the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, you can rest assured that the inside will be banging, especially since it will consist of a 15,000-seater arena designed by the same people who dreamt up the Sphere in Las Vegas and the O2 Arena in London. Each seat in the arena will be designed with the best sightlines and acoustics in mind for concerts and other live events.

With the groundbreaking ceremony taking place this week, the estimated completion date of June 2030 doesn’t seem that far-fetched; after all, the OG Marina Bay Sands completed construction in just 4 years. Still, there will need to be inspections, soft launches, and the like to be done, so just set your expectations for a January 2031 launch of the new MBS tower.
