New hotels are constantly popping up, from pet-friendly hotels to ones that are perfect for Hen’s nights. Adding to the ever-growing list of hotels in Singapore is the Train Pod @ one-north, a co-living train hotel in LaunchPad @ one-north.
You read that right – you’ll be staying in a train. But nothing unfamiliar to us, since we’re used to spending hours commuting on the MRT. I’m sure your interest is piqued. Read on to find out more:

This co-living hotel is the brainchild of local company Tiny Pod, whereby unoperated SMRT train cabins have been transformed into a living space. Yes, actual trains. For all you know, you might’ve used this very same carriage on your way to Holland Village MRT station.
This gem can be found at the carpark next to Block 69 Ayer Rajah Crescent – so not at an actual train station, mind you. It’s a short 5-minute walk from one-north MRT, and situated next to Timbre+ one-north.

There’ll be 8 rooms in total, and each room will come with a private bathroom. A major plus for those who value privacy when doing their bizniz.
Keeping in line with the train theme, the rooms will retain features of a typical SMRT train cabin. Expect train maps hung on the walls, and classic white handrails hung from the ceiling – which can double up as hanging racks for your clothes, wink wink.
The driver’s cabin may be off-limits IRL, but over here, it is a shared space where guests can chill at without breaking any MRT rules. There are panels set up here, screening actual scenes of the train’s journey through the underground tunnels. Basically the train’s past life, documented on video.
There are plans to set up bicycle racks and F&B vending machines near the hotel so you can grab late-night snacks during your stay. Old train chairs will be repurposed into outdoor benches too, great for those who want to chill in nature.

Like you, we’re eagerly waiting for more details on this co-living train hotel. While the rates of the hotel have yet to be confirmed and the place is still being constructed, word is that operations will begin in September 2024. So save some ALs for Q4, and ring up your besties for a fun staycation.
