If blockchain, metaverse and Web 3.0 sound nothing like English to you, well, we’re in the same boat. For fellow folks who have been nodding “intellectually” at the dinner table when friends and relatives bring up crypto news and headlines, there’s a cool new exhibition in town to finally learn more about the topic. Enter MetaJam Asia, running from now till 31st July 2022.
The first of its kind in Singapore, MetaJam Asia is a neon-lit exhibition with interactive activities. Think a mini ArtScience Museum-meets-NFT where you can play with a digital gashapon machine and attend a virtual music festival in a VR cube.

If you’ve heard of the IG-famous instant noodle playground Slurping Good!, you’ll be familiar with Tekka Place Annex. The 2-storey, 6,000sqft space has been divided into 7 exhibition zones featuring over 10,000 pieces of work from local and regional artists.
Wander through immersive installations that introduce the complex idea of NFTs in simple terms and learn how to create your very own – who knows, that may be your gateway to creating a hit as popular as the Bored Ape Yacht Club.

Scan your artwork onto a digital space-themed projection to interact with it.
TIL: NFTs aren’t just virtual art sold at insane prices – they can also come in the form of everything from music to fashion. Find collaborations with artists and brands at the Jam Session, showcasing existing and newly launched projects from around the region.
Partners include names you may be familiar with, such as Karafuru x Hypebeast x Atmos and Enlightened Rats by Chain Debrief.
Many of the NFT pieces here also have QR codes you can scan to purchase. Better yet, you can purchase your own customised NFT outfits at the end of the exhibit.
For those looking to dip their toes into the world of crypto a little more, there’ll also be workshops and a 3-day summit in July 2022. The space will also showcase a 2-day long event called GameFi Asia, featuring a hackathon and blockchain gaming panel for the true NFT junkies.

Before you leave, don’t forget to attend a virtual music festival with other online players and have a go at the old-school arcade machine.

While the world of cryptocurrency can be as complex as the names of Elon Musk’s children, taking the first steps into the digital space isn’t as tough as it seems if you find the right avenue. Visit MetaJam Asia at Tekka Place, co-organised by Invade, Kult, and Chain Debrief and presented by Klaytn. Chances are, the world of crypto won’t seem so daunting anymore.
