However, if you both have been there and done that on Singapore soil, perhaps our neighbours across the border have all the answers yet again. We all know how unbearable the Q1 workload is after the CNY break, so take a dip in Y Spa & Wellness’ intimate herbal spas to ease yourself into the groove of things. For RM244/pax, couples can soothe their weary bones with a 2.5 hour-long massage and spa session.

Drinks and small snacks and sweets will be provided with your herbal spas.

Firstly, you’ll be brought to a private room equipped with 2 wooden tubs, where you can take a medicinal bath that’s formulated with a whopping 38 different Chinese herbs. Aside from setting the stage for a legendary yap sesh, it is said that a 20-minute dip in their herbal spas is akin to running 10km, as it helps with slimming, blood circulation, and fatigue elimination.

After your soak, lay back and relax as you indulge in a 2-hour-long deep tissue massage. The spa even uses state-of-the-art spectrometers to target those gnawing knots that traditional hand massages can’t undo.

5. Tufting Nuts

Decorate your home with personalised rugs

We all know how expensive rug tufting can get in Singapore, with sessions easily soaring into the hundreds. But, if you don’t mind hopping over the border, you’ll find that you have much more affordable options when it comes to designing a personalised welcome mat for your love nest.

Located in the ever-popular Mount Austin, Tufting Nuts is one of them. For RM199/pax, you’ve got 3 hours to go ham with a tufting gun on a sprawling 50cm by 50cm canvas. You can virtually make customised rugs with any design of your choosing; from popular video game characters to fuzzy renditions of furbabies, nothing is off the table.

You can also choose to turn your rugs into pillow cases for an additional RM50.

Simply send the image you’d like to tuft to them 3 days before your scheduled session, and the staff on-site will do their best to assist you in making your ideas come to life. There’s also no limit on how many colours you can incorporate into your designs, so pick as many as you’d like from their wide selection of yarns.

Do note that you’ll have to wait 3 to 4 weeks before you can pick up your completed rugs, as the staff will need some time to cut and glue everything together. If you’d rather not make another trip down, you can also opt for delivery to your doorstep in Singapore, for a small fee.

7. Amigos Horse Riding

Saddle up for horseback riding & ATV rides

Outdoorsy couples who love to hit up the hiking trails in Singapore can give their stompers a rest, because you’ll be saddling up to go horseback riding at Amigos Horse Riding Leisure Farm.

It’s a fully-functioning horse stable that’s a 15-minute drive from the CIQ 2nd link across the Tuas checkpoint. Prices start at RM110 for a horseback ride, during which you’ll first trot around a fenced enclosure guided by the staff to get familiar with your steed. Afterwards, you’ll be headed down a jungle trail for a trip down the wild side.

Should gallivanting amongst the shrubbery not suffice, then opt for the farm’s ATV rides (from RM120/ride) where you’ll get to steer your own ATVs to conquer the forest floor. You don’t need to have a driving licence to sit behind the wheel, so even the most seasoned passenger princesses can get in on the mud-splattering fun.

On the other hand, if animal cafes are your nirvana, then hang out with the peculiar inhabitants of Capyba Cafe. No prizes for guessing which laidback critter you can find here; the cafe has 2 resident capybaras to spend your lazy afternoons with. That’s not all, as there are also 5 fluffy alpacas to pet and feed within the premises.

Although entry is FOC, you’ll have to order at least 1 food item from their menu. Of course, they’ve got a slew of capybara-themed goodies such as a jiggly capybara pudding (RM16), as well as hearty mains like chicken katsu curry (RM23.90) and mentaiko pasta (RM29.90).

After satisfying your bellies, you’ll get the chance to return the favour by feeding the capybaras and alpacas with complimentary cups of carrots and other greens. But be warned, visitors have noted that the alpacas especially will go crazy for carrots, so luring them in for pics shouldn’t pose a problem at all.
