Visit St. John’s, Kusu & Lazarus Islands

Picture a relaxing vacation and a beach getaway easily tops anyone’s list of go-to places. For all the beach bums out there, a quick trip to the neighbouring islands of Batam or Bali may now be put on hold, but that doesn’t mean you can’t replicate those holiday vibes with a Singapore island-hopping adventure in our Southern Islands.

At only $15, you can hop on a ferry that will take you on a special weekend island adventure with your loved ones. Each ticket takes you to St. John’s Island and Kusu Island and then back to Singapore. Bonus is – Lazarus Island is a 15-minute walk away from St. John’s Island, so you can visit a total of 3 different islands in one day.

St. John’s Island – Picnics, fishing & trekking

Home to a rich diversity of flora and fauna, St. John’s Island is perfect for nature lovers seeking a little adventure. There are picnic tables and paved walking trails, so you can plan your day-trip around a full day outdoors.

There aren’t any food & beverage options available on these pristine islands, so be sure to pack your own meal and bring lots of drinking water along. If you’re planning to have a picnic, do bring an extra bag for garbage to keep the island clean!

Avid anglers can also bring along your gear as St. John’s Island is a famed spot for shore fishing. Brace yourself for huge groupers and queenfish which have been caught recently!

Lazarus Island – White sand beach & friendly cats

Soft, white sand, check. Clear waters, check. Head over to this tranquil, C-shaped lagoon which is just a 15-minute walk away from St. John’s island for a quiet picnic or suntan.

For cat whisperers, you’ll be thrilled to be greeted by beautiful feline residents who’ll keep you company on the island. However, resist the urge to feed them as there are designated volunteers feeding them on the daily.

Kusu Island – Shrines & temples

For a change of scene, head to Kusu Island to visit its shrines and temples such as the Dabogong temple. Explore the island and you’ll come across a tortoise sanctuary, and if you wish to cool off on a sunny day, take a swim in one of the island’s calm lagoons. This is also the only place among the 3 islands where you can buy drinks!
