When we think of theme parks in Malaysia, those that often come to mind are attractions like Legoland, Genting Skyworlds, or Sunway Lagoon. But if you’ve already been to all 3, here’s a less crowded, more underrated alternative to consider: i-City Theme Park near KL.
Located just 45 minutes from KLCC, i-City is a 72 acre large amusement park in Selangor filled with attractions like VR games, a winter wonderland, and even a thrilling 20-storey tall glass slide. Read on for our review of everything we did during our visit.
i-City is located at Shah Alam in Selangor, which is a rough 45 minute drive from KL’s city centre. While it’s most easily accessible by car, those taking public transport can travel to Padang Jawa station, the nearest KTM station to the theme park. From there, i-City is roughly a 10 minute drive away.
Each individual attraction at i-City has its own ticketing price, which you can see here. However, if you plan on visiting multiple attractions, it might be more worth it to purchase the All Day Happyness Pass (RM175, ~S$56.67).
The package grants you entry to the majority of zones at i-City, including WaterWorld, SnoWalk, Immersive Winterland, and more. Do note that this pass excludes entry to Sky glass slide, which has a separate entrance fee.
Visitors can book tickets via i-City’s website, or through the i-City SuperApp on the App Store and Google Play.
i-City has quite the mix of attractions in its space, including indoor and outdoor areas, wet and dry rides, and IG-worthy zones. We suggest narrowing down on the attractions you want to visit beforehand, as different rides have varying operating hours.
A day probably isn’t enough to cover every single zone either, so we made a beeline for the ones that caught our attention the most – Sky water slide, SnoWalk, Race Karting, Immersive Winterland, and Virtual Sports.
Our first stop for the day was Immersive Winterland, which opens at 10am. Despite its name, Immersive Winterland won’t plunge you into sub-zero temperatures, but it does have winter-themed games and photo spots for you to act like you’re in a cold place.
Right at the entrance, we spotted these skiing and snowboarding simulators which turned out to be quite a workout for us. The machines are reminiscent of typical arcade racing games, but set on snowy slopes instead of a race track.
Further in is a small photo zone, with statues of a t-rex, King Kong, and a mammoth to pose with. If you’ve got kids, they’ll also enjoy playing in the small playground nearby, equipped with a ballpit, slide, and an interactive touchscreen wall.
The best place to snap aesthetic pictures, however, is in this LED projection zone with rooms that remind us a little of TeamLab exhibitions. Here, you’ll see gorgeous light displays of flowers, waterfalls, and colour-changing lanterns.
Thought that was all? We haven’t gotten to our favourite part of Immersive Winterland yet. Be sure to hop on this 4D ride before you go – if you like the Transformers ride at USS, you’ll enjoy zipping through the wind and flying across a canyon in this roller coaster simulator.
Immersive Winterland

If you’re visiting i-City with a group of pals, we recommend checking out the Virtual Sports zone. Here, you and your besties will don VR head gear and enter eerie virtual worlds to combat monsters together.
There are different games to choose from, but we ended up playing the zombie one, where we had to fight off everything from gory zombies to giant spiders and worms. You might be wondering how scary a VR game can be, but trust us – you won’t be able to hold in your screams when a giant insect looks like it’s a mere inch from your face, clawing at you.
Virtual Sports
Opening hours: Mon – Fri 10am – 10pm | Sat – Sun 10am – 11pm
Price: RM15 (~S$4.86/pax)

If you want to see snow in KL, SnoWalk Aurora will let you experience what it’s like to be in a -5°C winter wonderland. This super chilly attraction left us quite literally shaking in our boots, despite being bundled up in padded winter coats that you’ll be provided with every ticket.
There are multiple zones within SnoWalk, each decorated with cute snowman figurines, illuminated ice sculptures, igloos, and more.
Besides taking photos, be sure to try out the bumper cars and slides inside. These might all look like child’s play, but the bumper cars were surprisingly challenging to drive, and the slides were super fun to zoom down too.
Of all, our favourite was this rainbow slide, which we rode down on inflatable tubes.
SnoWalk Aurora
Opening hours: Mon – Fri 3.30pm – 11pm | Sat – Sun 1pm – 11pm
Price: RM73 (~S$23.64/pax)

With 3 different routes for both beginner and advanced riders, the Race Karting attraction at i-City was a real joy ride for us. Expect to do some legit go-karting here – right from the start, we were suited up in safety vests, gloves, balaclavas and helmets.
The full circuit is 580m long, with adequate twists and bends to challenge your driving skills. This writer admittedly crashed multiple times, but the staff were always there to help get us back on track.
FYI, beginner riders like us can ride carts that go up to 40km/hour, while advanced riders can speed up to 60km/hour. Twin karts are available as well, if you want to ride in pairs.
Race Karting
Opening hours: Mon – Fri 4pm – 12am | Sat – Sun 3pm – 12am
Price: RM75 (~S$24.29/pax)

See that giant, roller coaster-like structure in the picture above? That’s Sky, a 600m-long glass water slide that’s defo not for those with a fear of heights.
This attraction was hands-down the most impressive, and our favourite from i-City. For the best view and peak vibes, we suggest riding this during sunset or at night, when the slide’s fully lit up in rainbow LED lights.
Each float seats 2 riders, so you won’t have to worry about going down alone. And if you tie up your hair, you’ll probably be able to avoid getting super drenched as well, as riders are provided with full-body ponchos that you can tuck your bags under as well.
The ride lasted around 2 minutes, and our fave bit was the bendy loops towards the end. Minus the fact that it’s 20-storeys tall, we’d say the slide down was not too scary, and relatively family-friendly overall.
Sky
Opening hours: Mon – Fri 4pm – 12am | Sat – Sun 12pm – 12am
Price: RM55 (~S$17.81/pax)
Buy tickets to Sky here.
Whether you’re travelling with kiddos or looking for exciting rides to take on with your besties, i-City has quite literally got it all. P.S. – There are always new promotions and packages on their site, so be sure to keep a lookout when you’re making your bookings.
