2025 hasn’t exactly been kind to film buffs on the Little Red Dot. Filmgarde Cineplexes pulled the plug on their last outlet in Kallang in March, and it wasn’t long ago that The Projector’s sudden shuttering caused much nationwide commotion. However, one operator that withstood the mass cinema exodus is Golden Village, and boy, are they here to stay.
They’re a mainstay in almost every major mall in Singapore, and pretty soon, they’ll be making themselves cosy in Downtown East too, filling the void left behind by Cathay Cineplexes. Here’s all you need to know about their grand opening, including all the sweet promotions that are sure to delight frequent movie-goers; not everything’s gloom and doom for y’all.
Located in the Pasir Ris, Downtown East has been the place for both families and friends in the East to spend some quality time at. Wild Wild Wet’s an iconic water park that promises a whale of a time, and the chalets at D’Resort have most definitely seen their fair share of class parties and family get-togethers over the years.

Well, you can expect to see even more footfall to the entertainment hub soon, as Golden Village Downtown East will be opening its movie halls this Thursday, on 27th November 2025. The 980-seater cinema will consist of 6 halls, and will occupy the space left behind by Cathay Cineplexes on Level 4 of E!Hub, #4-106/107/108.
To commemorate the 17th outlet’s grand opening, Golden Village Downtown East will also be running a couple of promotions.
Even the Westies might be tempted to make the trip across the island to catch movies here, as the cinema will be giving away 100 free movie tickets daily from 27th November to 3rd December 2025. To redeem a free movie voucher, simply spend a minimum of $5 on F&B items. It’s first-come-first-serve, so be sure to head down early to score your free tickets.
If you didn’t manage to snag any for yourself, fret not. From 27th November 2025 till 30th January 2026, customers can enjoy all-day student and senior rates of $7 and $5 per ticket respectively on weekdays.
With Golden Village Downtown East’s opening, folks residing in Pasir Ris didn’t have to wait long at all to catch a flick in their neighbourhood. But with how attractive the opening promotions are, they just might have to share their new movie halls with crowds flocking down from Tampines and beyond for a month or 2.
