The June holidays are here, and if you’re already plotting a quick JB run with the kids for a day of fun that won’t leave your wallet crying, you’re definitely not alone. And while Hutan Bandar MBJB is a great pick for some outdoor adventure time, there’s now Danga Park, another family-friendly spot just across the border with more than enough to keep the little ones happily occupied from start to finish.

Opened in late May 2026, Danga Park is a new recreational space located within the Danga Bay waterfront development in Johor Bahru. It’s also just a 10 to 15-minute drive from the JB checkpoint, making it an easy addition to any day trip itinerary.

As you wander through the park, you’ll find sheltered rest areas and benches tucked among the flowers. Kids can take a breather at these spots after running around, while adults finally get a chance to sit back and chill, while the little ones continue their playtime adventures.

The first thing you’ll likely spot is the tiger-shaped playground, which is honestly hard to miss. It’s been cleverly designed for kids to climb and weave through the tiger’s body before sliding down a winding tube slide for a little thrill at the end.

Nearby, you’ll also find the octopus-shaped playground – a towering structure that’s made for little adventurers to explore, complete with multiple slides branching off for extra fun along the way.

There are also smaller play pockets dotted around the park, featuring shorter slides and climbing structures with gentle slopes, where younger toddlers can safely join in too.
Take note that the playgrounds are for children below 10 years old, and kids under 7 years old will require adult supervision.

When the little ones are all sweaty from running around, they can make a beeline for the water play zones to cool off. You’ll find spouting fountains and interactive water structures that splash and spray here.
Elevated walkway for scenic views

Another highlight at the park is the elevated walkway, which lets you take in views of the surrounding area without having to tackle a single flight of stairs. The entire structure is designed as a ramp, so it’s accessible for wheelchair users and parents with strollers.

BTW, if you’re planning to stick around till the evening, you’re in for a different experience altogether. As night falls, colourful lights illuminate the park and walkway, turning the entire space into something that feels almost like a mini amusement park.

The fountains get in on the action too, lighting up in different colours, while playful projections cast shapes and patterns across the walking paths.

According to reviews on Google, there are plenty of CCTVs installed around the park for added peace of mind, as well as toilets within the grounds. You’ll also find vending machines selling drinks, handy for when the weather inevitably has everyone reaching for a cold beverage.
But some visitors have also pointed out that the number of toilets may not be enough during peak periods. Given how crowded the park can get, it might be worth making a pit stop at one of the malls in JB for a toilet break before heading over.

Entry is free for Malaysians – make sure to bring your IC along, as it’ll be scanned at the entrance before you’re allowed to enter. Foreigners can purchase tickets on-site at RM20/adult (~S$6.33) and RM10/child (~S$3.17) aged 5 to 12 using a self-service kiosk.

Danga Park is open daily from 7.30am to 11pm, so it’s a great spot to let the kids burn off some energy before making the trip back to Singapore. Just take note that the park closes briefly for maintenance from 6pm to 8pm each day; plan your visit around those hours if you don’t want to be caught waiting outside.
Add Danga Park to your itinerary, especially if you’re travelling with kids in tow. Some reviews do mention that it can get pretty scorching in the afternoon, so it’s probably best to swing by in the morning or later in the evening when the weather is a bit more forgiving.
