Over the last 8 years, many of us have probably repeatedly watched Crazy Rich Asians and imagined ourselves living the high life, complete with extravagant parties, designer outfits, and a bank account that seemingly has no limits. If you can relate, here’s something that might pique your interest.
An upcoming Crazy Rich Asians series by American cable TV company HBO is holding a casting call, and this could be your chance to make your on-screen debut. We’ve gathered everything you need to know if you’ve always fancied yourself as the next Rachel Chu or Nick Young.
For those who haven’t heard, Crazy Rich Asians is making a comeback 8 years after the original movie hit cinemas in 2018. This time, we’re getting an 8-episode HBO series that picks up where the movie left off, with familiar faces including Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Ronny Chieng, and Michelle Yeoh returning to reprise their roles.
Production is expected to begin in 2027, although an official release date has yet to be announced.
Forget rewatching Crazy Rich Asians for the umpteenth time and fantasising about being an actual crazy rich asian. You might just have a shot at being part of the upcoming HBO series.
HBO and Firefly Casting have announced a global casting call for 2 roles, namely Posy and William. The former is a glamorous and ambitious East Asian woman in her 30s whose marriage to a wealthy tycoon has fallen apart, while the latter is a charming Chinese man in his 20s who’s the son of a Shanghai real estate billionaire.

Applicants for both roles must be fluent in English, with those auditioning for Posy needing some familiarity with Mandarin, and those eyeing William’s role should be able to converse in Mandarin.
The best part is that no prior acting experience is required, and auditions are free of charge. Interested applicants just need to submit a self-taped audition following the instructions on the official casting website by 30th November 2026.

Of course, an announcement involving Crazy Rich Asians was bound to get the internet talking. And judging by the comments section, netizens aren’t holding back on jokes and nominating their friends for the roles.
One commenter said, “I can be the plump, judgy auntie in the background. Learning Mandarin via binge-watching C-dramas,” while another joked, “I will be a good fit for a crazy poor asian. Sign me up.” So, it’s safe to say that the casting call has caught people’s attention, whether they’re here for jokes or actually serious about auditioning.
