The season of giving has already begun, with the grand finale – Christmas – a mere few weeks away. Yet the work year hasn’t quite ended – meaning that most of us head to the malls to jalan jalan with the family and get our Christmas shopping done after work or on weekends.

1. Train rides – where the young ’uns live out their dream of being train conductors
If you’ve got little tikes in tow while shopping, you can expect them to tire out easily after exploring the shops together. Reward them for their patience by treating them to a kid-sized train ride – the lucky child who hitches a ride in the conductor’s booth gets to act as the driver, complete with a bell for him or her to ring!
To get a train pass for your child, simply spend a minimum of $20 in the mall and pick it up at the concierge!

2. Weekend candy buffet – treat your kids to candy

To snag a pass for the candy buffet, simply spend a minimum of $50 on weekends in the mall, and you’ll be able to fill a bag with candy to your heart’s content.

Your name will be emblazoned on the reverse side of the pouch in cursive font

You’ll even get to watch the intriguing process, where your name is first entered into an iPad to be “fancified” before being printed on the spot. It is then ironed on and –voila!– your very own pouch is complete!

4. Infinity room – be mesmerised by Christmas lights in a mirrored room
If you’re done shopping for the day, stop by the infinity room located just outside the mall along the Singapore River. With its enchanting Christmas lights and decorations reflected endlessly by its mirrored walls, the infinity room is the perfect spot to grab mesmerising shots for the ‘gram.

5. Roving acts by the river – catch free juggling and balancing acts
After a long day of stressing over what gifts to buy and actually purchasing the presents, take a breather along the River by catching roving acts in action.
We caught The Jay Show when we were here, which was staged by an expert performer whose acts progressively increased in difficulty. Right from the start, we couldn’t take our eyes off the artiste plate-balancing on skewers and deftly rolling a crystal ball on his arms and shoulders.
The performance reached its peak when he balanced a foldable trolley atop his chin before ending with him juggling bowling pins while on a platform held up by a roller and cans. Not something I would try of my own volition.
And The Jay Show is not the only roving act that is set to entertain you, with Bubble Shows on 8, 14, and 22 Dec and an LED Laser Show on.
Admission for these acts is FOC, so all you need do is sit (or stand) back and enjoy the show!

6. Musical medley – enjoy live musical performances of popular Christmas tunes
Christmas isn’t really coming to town until you hear broadcasts of musical classics like “Jingle Bells”. That’s why Clarke Quay Central has it’s very own Musical Medley, where you’ll get to bask in the spirit of Christmas with a lineup that includes acapella, harpist, and even jazz renditions of popular festive tunes.
