Santa Claus ain’t coming to town yet, but Uncle Ringo is – to Chinatown Point this August – as part of the mall’s REKINDLE festival that’s running in conjunction with Singapore’s 60th birthday month. But the much-loved fun fair isn’t the only thing that’s up in August, with a whole slew of dining and shopping promos for one and all – and here are some of the highlights worth checking out.
Food is as integral to Singapore culture as our famous kiasu mentality, and Chinatown Point has got just the right deals that you’ll want to catch. Then, spend $60 in a maximum of 2 same-day receipts, and you’ll get a Makan Lah! F&B Voucher booklet, with $20 worth of dining vouchers that you can spend at participating Chinatown Point eateries, including Thye Moh Chan, Lixin Teochew Fishball Noodles, Janggut Laksa, and Toastbox.
That’s on top of exciting SG60 deals that you’ll find at most of the establishments. For example, the Fuwa Fuwa Chawanmushi at Kyoto Ramen Hachicken is going for just $0.06 with any ramen or main dish order from 27th July-10th August, down from the usual $3.40.
ICYMI, this ramen chain hails from Kyoto, Japan, where their sister brand, fine-dining chicken speciality restaurant Hachiki-an, was founded in 1970. This Singapore outlet of the ramen store opened just last December, and only uses halal-friendly ingredients in their food. Even the ramen soup base is made with just 4 ingredients: chicken, duck, dried bonito, and kelp.
Best of all, their bowls of ramen start from $4.90++, and senior citizens, you’ll want to take note: on 9th August, every single bowl of ramen is going for 60% off. That means their Shio and Shoyu ramen will ring in the till at just $1.96++.
Over at Mr. Coconut, they’re celebrating SG60 in style, with their signature coconut shakes zhng-ed up with the nation’s favourite drink – MILO. Available in 2 styles, priced from $5.40, as a blended Coconut Shake and Coconut Shake Dinosaur, this is a collision of favourites that you won’t want to miss.
Otherwise, Ya Kun Kaya Toast has limited-edition SG60 items on the menu that you can only order from 11th July: D24 Durian Kaya Toast ($5.20), Iced Moki ($3.60), which is a Ya Kun-style, mocha-inspired kopi with MILO, and Bandung Lychee Swiss Roll ($3.80).
Turn up in red or white at Peach Garden, and you’ll enjoy 50% off a selection of 18 dim sum items. This includes crowd pleasers like Traditional Steamed Siew Mai with Fish Roe ($9.80++), Deep-fried Bean Skin Roll with Seaweed ($9.80++), and Deep-fried Lychee Ball Tree ($11.80++).
Even if you don’t turn up in patriotic colours, you can still enjoy 30% off these dim sum.
While there’s no end date in sight for these dim sum promos, you’d best head down for lunch before 31st August with Ah Ma and gang. That’s because your dim sum discount goes up to a whopping 60% off if you dine with someone born in, or before the year 1965.
