Capitol Singapore Now Lets You Lo Hei Inside Festive Domes For Extra Huat In The Year Of The Ox

Capitol Singapore Chinese New Year 2021

Aside from receiving angbaos and snacking incessantly on pineapple tarts, getting to lo hei with loved ones is arguably one of the best parts of CNY. Despite the limit of eight pax on gatherings this year, your festive spirit doesn’t have to be dampened.

From now till 26th February 2021, Capitol Singapore offers you a unique CNY celebration, with highlights like lo hei in a private dome, craft workshops, and festive shopping.

Here’s how you can celebrate your niu year:

Welcome the Year of the Ox in charming domes

This year, you can lo hei in your very own private air-conditioned dome, which ensures your posse is socially-distant from everyone else. To score a spot at these domes for your CNY reunion before they’re booked out, simply order your yusheng platter from The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore, Famous Treasure or HolyCrab through the Online Spring Fair website.

Domes here are available in a dining setting, furnished with round tables and comfy chairs, suitable for intimate reunion dinners. Alternatively, you could also find domes arranged in lounge settings, that will ensure maximum cosiness with sofa seats and coffee tables.

You can get the customisable Salmon Yu Sheng Platter ($88 for 2-5 pax, $168 for 6-8 pax) a la carte or opt for the 6-course Lunar New Year Family Style Menu ($128++/pax till 8th Feb, $168++/pax from 9th Feb) that includes dishes like King Salmon Yusheng and Classic Buddha Jumps Over The Wall, all from 15 Stamford by Alvin Leung in The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore.

Alternatively, Famous Treasure offers the Prosperity Shun De Yu Sheng ($118++ for 6 pax, $180++ for 8 pax) that is a unique rendition of the conventional yusheng. It features the succulent Hamachi a.k.a. yellowtail sashimi tossed with crunchy fried yam sticks.

At HolyCrab, try the Prosperity Crab Meat Yu Sheng in Chef’s signature green sauce blend with either crab ($58 for 3-4 pax, $78 for 5-6 pax) or abalone for a top up of $10.

Even if you don’t intend to dine in the festive domes, you can also book a hassle-free reunion dinner at the restaurants at Capitol Singapore. Switch up the usual Chinese fare with Frieda Restaurant’s German-Chinese fusion set menu ($58++/pax), Italian-Chinese fare ($58++/pax) from La Scala Ristorante or an unconventional Chicken Char Siew Burger ($16.80) courtesy of Broadway American Diner.

Dessert lovers can also opt for the unique Bak Kwa Dark Chocolate Mousse Cake ($88++) from Berthold Delikatessen

As an added bonus for SPH subscribers, they also score a 10% discount at any of these four restaurants on their CNY offerings from now till 26th February 2021 to cash in on some savings for your reunion gatherings.

Stock up for your CNY prep with snacks, home decor & new clothes

Besides reunion gatherings, there’s also the Spring Fair to grab some exclusive CNY treats and Chinese-inspired goodies to stock up your home for upcoming bai nians. You can also shop colourful home decor to spruce up your house after spring cleaning.

Check out traditional Chinese lanterns with exquisite designs that will wow your guests, or buy back unique snacks like salted egg fish skin and crispy chocolate rice crackers that are sure to be a hit among your younger cousins.

If you’re thinking of whipping up a home-cooked feast for guests, get your groceries at Eccellente by HAO Mart. They’ve even got an in-store bakery to load up on snacks and desserts, as well as a selection of fresh seafood and meats.

CNY is also about getting new threads for that winning OOTD shot, which you can do so at CYC Made To Measure. You’ll be taken through a measuring process and given choices for your fit from the base colour down to the cuffs. A brand new custom shirt (from $129) will be sure to impress your relatives and friends alike.

If you want to pack more punch in your CNY outfit, consider pairing it with modern jade jewellery from Gen.K Jewelry. Bring more luck to your mahjong games with the Mother and Child Bee Ring, crafted elegantly with citrine – the stone of prosperity and wealth, or achieve a glamorous look with the Wishing Tree Necklace ($468), which symbolises reaping the fruits of love and happiness.

To complete your stunning look for visiting, consider booking a facial at Sulwhasoo, where the Hydro-aid Moisturising Soothing Treatment ($200 for 80 mins) will rejuvenate your skin and give it a glow. You can also treat the leading man in your life to the Men’s Treatment ($140 for 80 mins) to help them attain a more youthful complexion.
