Many of us dream of heading out to Cappadocia, Turkey, for a dreamy hot air balloon ride up in the skies. There’ll be a similar experience on our shores soon, with Singapore’s first hot air balloon ride by Ballons Du Monde, opening at Marina Bay. KIV for the perfect date night!

Older folks may remember the iconic and bright yellow DHL helium balloon on Tan Quee Lan Street that closed down in 2008 after its lease terminated.
Slightly different from DHL’s, Ballons Du Monde hot air balloon will be the first of its kind in Singapore as it’ll use onboard burners to decrease air density, lifting passengers up and away.
Consider this a taste of OG air travel back in the day as hot air balloons were the very first human-carrying flight technology – way before helium balloons were invented, much more airplanes.

In terms of getting images for the ‘gram, this will look a lot cooler thanks to a bright flame beneath the balloon. Around The World In 80 Days vibes anyone?

Slated to open at Marina Bay, this may just contest the MBS’ observation deck as the best spot to get a panoramic view of the city skyline at night.

Of course, we’re all itching to go for a ride. But that’ll have to wait till a launch date is released. For the curious, the company has posted teasers of tests now being conducted at Bayfront Events Space. You may catch the enormous hot air balloon floating up in the sky if you’re lucky!
