This weekend will be the last before Hari Raya hits next Wednesday – that also means one last chiong to the Ramadan bazaars. We wrote about Ramadan Fiesta 2024, which boasts more than 100 F&B stalls, but here’s one more to put on your list: Magika Raya at B5 Johor Street Market.
Located in Tampoi Town, B5 Johor Street Market is approximately 20 minutes by car from Woodlands Checkpoint, or 16 minutes by bus from JB Sentral.

Inspired by Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne, this 56,475 sqft space is a one-stop shop for shopping, dining and entertainment. The Magika Raya bazaar is just the latest of the food and retail markets that the space has hosted since they opened.

Pop into the big blue buildings, and you’ll find nostalgic street market vibes, alongside units that have been built into heritage shophouses, KTM train carriages, and even old buses.

In fact, the B5 in their name harks back to the area’s old name – Batu 5, or 5th Mile, which is what the older generation would know it as.
There’s a Box Park section in the market made of old shipping containers.

This Ramadan, Magika Raya has transformed the place into a massive foodie destination, with more than 100 food trucks and stalls serving up viral treats including churros, tanghulu, ice cream air balang, and kueh kueh.

There are more filling options as well – think pizzas, nasi lemak, char kway teow, and even lamb chops and other grilled meats.
If you’re not a foodie, or are accompanied by friends and fam who are less gastronomically tempted, point them in the direction of the retail section.

Options here include thrift stores, and regular shops with kids and adult fashion options for matching outfits with the fam.

That’s not to forget the snack shops – more than you can count. If you haven’t stocked up your pantry ahead of all the Raya visitations, now’s the time to.

Should you be headed in before the weekend, you might want to drop by Magika Raya after Friday prayers and get a free bowl of porridge. You’ll find the booth at the open-air carpark, where the pre-packed bowls will be distributed to one and all.
There’s 1 more week on the clock if you’re still thinking about visiting a Ramadan bazaar. Apart from food and shopping, Magika Raya has got an entertainment programme lined with celebrity acts including the likes of Noraniza Idris, so it’s time to jio those kakis this weekend.
