A Studio Ghibli Exhibition Is Coming To ArtScience Museum In October, Here’s How To Get Tickets

The World of Studio Ghibli at ArtScience Museum

If you’ve watched Howl’s Moving Castle a million times, we’ve come bearing good news: The World of Studio Ghibli exhibition is coming to the ArtScience Museum from 4th October 2024 to 2nd February 2025. This marks the first exhibition from the Japanese animation powerhouse in Singapore, and tickets go on sale from 29th July 2024.

Why is Studio Ghibli so famous?

Those born in a different generation may think that Chihiro is just a song by Billie Eilish. But it’s based on Chihiro Ogino, the main character in Spirited Away – and one of the most beloved Ghibli characters of all time.

For the unacquainted, Studio Ghibli is a Japanese animation studio based in Koganei in Tokyo. It was founded in 1985 by 2 animated film directors, Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki, and has since become popular worldwide. In fact, 7 films have since received Academy Award nominations.

There are currently 22 feature-length films in its repertoire including My Neighbour Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, and of course, Spirited Away. And perhaps, the reason why Studio Ghibli is so loved by many is because it romanticises everyday life. Through Studio Ghibli films, audiences worldwide have been introduced to Japanese food, costumes, and stunning locations.
