“Work is so fun!” said no one ever. This is why a tipple is always welcomed after a hard day of hustling, and why we’d rather not wait till Fridays to let loose.
While Marina Bay Sands may not be the first thought that pops up when someone jios you for a drink, Adrift’s new Triple Your Pleasure midweek promotions are going to change that. From 6pm to 9pm every Tuesday to Thursday, there are special promotions at Adrift for cocktails (Tuesdays), whiskeys (Wednesdays) and wines (Thursdays) to help you chill out after a hectic day in the office.
The interior of Adrift is split into three sections – bar area, dining area and private dining room. Furnished with plush leather chairs and shelves of liquor from all over the world, the bar area is posh yet cozy.
If you prefer a more casual feel, ask to be seated at the dining area. There are wooden tables you can eat comfortably on, and a giant glass window covers an entire wall so you can take food photos with natural lighting. Be sure to make a reservation so you can get the swinging sofa seats! There is also a private dining area you can book for events like birthday parties or wedding lunches.
With more than 20 drinks on their menu, Adrift’s cocktail menu offers plenty of options. Choose from a mix of classics and specials, and don’t bother figuring out which gives you more bang for your buck ‘cause they’re all priced at $23++. And with the Social Hour Tuesdays promotion, you can get all cocktails at half the price, or $11.50++, from 6pm to 9pm!
I’m the girl who spams chilli in all my food, so I went straight for Lepak Local, a spicy mix of pineapple juice, calamansi, botanist gin infused with chilli padi and palm sugar infused with burnt lemongrass. Unlike a shot of vodka, this didn’t burn my throat but turned up the heat on my tongue instead.
The cocktails themselves were great, and are enhanced by Adrift’s ambience. Music was playing softly in the background, so we could chill without having to raise our voices. The staff were also attentive and polite, and head bartender Ruben told us how he makes all the syrups used in the cocktails himself. Posh but not pretentious.
For the old souls out there, Whisky Wednesdays is your jam. At half price, you can pick your poison from over 50 whiskies and have it the way you like it – neat, sour, old-fashioned or on the rocks.
To make things even classier, get a Cheese & Charcuterie Plate ($25++) to share. Filled with blocks of fine cheese, premium cold cuts, glazed walnuts and stone fruit chutney, this is one atas sharing plate Don Draper would be proud of.
This is for the people who just can’t stop drinking. From $50++ for a bottle of wine, be prepared to say yamseng all night. Choose from a list of 50, and on top of reds and whites, they’ve got a range of bubbles and rosé.
Of course, you can’t be expected to down all that wine without filling your tummy. If you fancy a bite, a Crispy Karaage Bun ($11++) – fried chicken, pickled cucumber salad and spicy mayo on a soft fluffy bun – will do the trick.
Their Crispy Onion Rings ($8++) were also exceptionally addictive, and we couldn’t stop dipping them into the dish of lime mayo that came with it.
For those who need to snack while drinking, we feel you. Adrift has a list of bar bites for us munchers, and aside from the items mentioned above, there are also dishes like Pork Tonkatsu Sandwich ($13++), Adrift Burger & Fries ($15++) and Hand-Cut Fries ($9++).
Starving souls can also opt for a bigger meal. With a new menu, you can expect to feast on Californian-Asian creations such as Brandt Beef Sirloin Steak ($36++) and Maine Lobster ($60++).
As an award-winning restaurant, Adrift is a place you have to try at least once. And with these midweek promos, you won’t need to splurge to have a drink here. And when your friends ask what you did last night, you can say you grabbed drinks at MBS – classy, bro.
