Adelaide’s 5D4N Foodie Trip Is Tailored For Workaholics With No Time To Plan Vacations

A foodie’s guide to Adelaide

In this day and age, everyone wants to go on a vacay, but it’s not that simple. With only 14 days of annual leave, we shouldn’t blame ourselves for thinking twice before taking a break…even though we really long for one.

But even the busiest of workaholics could use a l’il downtime, and Jetabout Holidays’ Gourmet Discover Tour in Adelaide sounds just about right. With a full itinerary planned for you, this is one fuss-free gastronomical getaway you don’t have to spend hours planning for.

Visit the off-the-beaten track on a four-wheeler

The Fork and Grape Tour lets you cruise around the low-key Fleurieu Peninsula and it’s stunning vistas – all on a four-wheeler. This 40-minute drive will be led by a local tour guide, Ben Neville, who’ll bring you around the internationally renowned McLaren Vale wine region.

You can look forward to venturing to places you might not even know exist, like the beautiful Onkaparinga River National Park. Just picture crystal clear waters and a lush hilly landscape with kangaroos casually roaming around – something you’d only get to experience in the land of Oz.

The park also offers adventure seekers a number of hiking trails, which’ll take you to cliff tops with views that are tough to beat. Hikers can also get a chance to explore the park’s rock pools and get up close with uniquely Australian animals like echidnas and koalas.

Once you’ve conquered the climb, refuel with great food, all while enjoying a bird’s eye view of the iconic Southern Vales.

Indulge in a 3-course Food Safari

You’ll be in for a treat as you go on a 3-course food journey at an exclusive surprise location. Expect a slew of palatable dishes, all of which are a fusion of European, Mediterranean and Asian cuisines.

On top of that, there’ll be having a personal wine tasting session with the local winemakers – meaning visitors will get first dibs on their latest selections. Who knows, you might even leave the place as a newly minted wine connoisseur!

Visit a cheese cellar in a European-styled town

Cheese lovers, your time has come to feast on some of the finest cheeses in Australia at Udder Delights, an artisan cheese factory located in the heart of Hahndorf. As Australia’s oldest German settlement, this rustic town is reminiscent of a little European village with its charming German-style architecture.

Prep your tummies for all sorts of ooey-gooey cheeses, like the melt-in-your-mouth truffle brie and their in-house special, “Mawson Blue” – which is served with raw honeycomb!

Tuck into a hearty brekkie at Adelaide Central Market

Bustling with locals and tourists alike, Adelaide Central Market is a must-visit spot when in town. It’s got a myriad of cuisines up its sleeves too – we’re talking cheap Italian cuisine to bibimbap and even a steaming bowl of laksa lest you miss home!

Start the day right with a hearty meal as part of the Market Breakfast Tour, which’ll bring you to one of the market’s most popular cafes. Be sure to put on your most comfy bottoms before making your way to this bustling market, ‘cuz chances of you leaving with a food baby is high.

Have a chill arvo at Organic Market & Cafe

Ozzie is known for its laidback culture that has us feeling a little envious, but take respite from your daily grind by going for a morning stroll through the cosy neighbourhood of Stirling to get to The Organic Market & Cafe. Watch the world pass you by as you dine in this quaint nook, known among the locals for its delicious home-style meals.

Fun fact: Arvo is Australian slang for “afternoon”.

Some of us may be familiar with ordering the same thing every single time, but those who can’t relate will be glad to know this cafe dishes up different mains everyday – such as Ethiopian Vegetable Stew with Flatbread and homemade salads with organic veggies.
