Twilight: Flea & Feast
If your usual year-end countdown plans consist of squeezing with a zillion other people to catch a peep of fireworks, it’s time for a change of scenery.
Wind down instead with the Twilight: Flea & Feast. Not in any way affiliated with the movie of the same name, this funfest is inspired by hawker markets in Australia, and will have you sending 2017 off with movie screenings, a flea market, a bouncy castle and tons of food.
And it’s FREE. ‘Nuff said. If that that word doesn’t thrill you, the next 7 reasons might.
1. Indulge in magical food and drinks such as Butterbeer and Unicorn ice-cream
Stuff your face silly at over 40 food and drinks booths that serve up street food from around the globe. We’d recommend making a beeline for these:
Boo:eh – For creamy butterbeer

This bubbly golden liquid topped with creamy butterscotch foam is something magical indeed. Muggles, get your Butterbeer – or more accurately, Butterbooeh – from Boo:eh that seems straight out of a Harry Potter book.
Party Rock SG – For unicorn ice-cream

Continue your flight of fantasy with the non-existent creature all basic souls are enthralled by- the colourful unicorn. Now, in ice cream form.

This OTT treat is brought to you by Party Rock Singapore, and their other sweet treats such as cupcakes and ice cream floats also boast that same neon aesthetic.

Don’t worry, it’s not all hipster food. Those craving for something more substantial can feast on Japanese street snacks from Saiko, kebabs from Sofra and healthy fare from Limaa. Then, get your sugar rush with drinks from Broti or Ice Burnz or cakes and desserts from Vainpout.
2. Let the kids go wild before school reopens with a bouncy castle and balloon pit

The kids might be heading back to school in January, so give them one last holiday hurrah. The energetic tykes will adore bouncing around in an inflatable bouncy castle or diving into a balloon pit.

There’s also face painting and glitter tattoos to have your lil’ ones looking extra fancy, and caricature drawings to “freeze” precious family moments in time.
If all else fails: popcorn and cotton candy!
3. Score cheap bargains to ring in the new year in style
There’s nothing like scoring a good deal for ending the year on a high. So, ready your shopping bags at the humongous flea at Twilight that sells everything from makeup to baby clothes, to accessories and stationery.

Give yourself a refreshing sugar scrub from Hiqba SG to reward yourself after a hard year’s work, or doll up with the gorgeous eyeshadow palettes and falsies from The Cosmetique World. Parents, keep an eye out for Jars of Fluff, where you can score a baby carrier!
4. Catch ‘live’ graffiti from homegrown talent, Ceno2
A Singaporean based in Chicago, graffiti artist Ceno2 is our homeboy made good with a impressive portfolio that include his doodles at the Bronx. Closer to home, you can spot his masterpieces at spots like the Vintage Camera Museum and Haji Lane.

Lucky for you, you get to catch him “live” in action, transforming a 6-metre long wall from a blank canvas into an urban spectacle. And if you’d like to bring a bit of his art back, take home some personally designed tees at a special price. Hey, don it proudly and #supportlocal.
5. Watch your favourite films – all for FREE
Lie back and catch your favourite films for free – with three movie screenings in a single day.
FYI, the screenings will be held indoors. Image is for illustration purposes only.

Whether you’re more of a superhero fan, or looking for a fluffy rom-com night with your BFFs, the variety of films here will have you lounging longer than your usual Netflix binge sessions.
These are the movie screening timings.
11am: Shrek, Trolls, Up
3pm: Home Alone, Enchanted, Pitch Perfect
7.30pm: The Avengers, Definitely Maybe and Night At The Museum
6. Take some Insta-worthy shots for that fairytale aesthetic

With a name like “Twilight”, you’d expect the event to have some sparkle. And we don’t mean the Edward Cullen twinkling in the light sort.
Take some shots for your IG with fairy lights and silvery cushions dotting the green lawns of the lounge area. Reflective “new year, new me” caption optional.
7. Get a massage and new haircut to kick off 2018
The stresses of 2017 might have had you all tensed up, but that tension will melt away under the expert hands of the folks from the Singapore Association of Visually Handicapped (SAVH).

These qualified, visually-handicapped masseuses have a wealth of experience at schools, offices and other events, so just sit back and relax – extra peaceful in the knowledge that all proceeds go to SAVH.
