DBS PayLah! Launches New Travel Debit Card with 0 FX Fees & 0 Overseas ATM Withdrawal Fees

DBS TravelLah! Debit Card

The end-of-year holidays are upcoming, and if you’ve got travel plans all lined up, here’s a debit card to add to your wallet. New to the DBS lineup is the TravelLah! Debit Card, available to anyone from the age of 16. As its name suggests, it’s been designed all around any travels you may have on the horizon, with 0 FX fees, and 0 overseas ATM withdrawal fees.

0 FX fees on overseas spending

Now on to the real bonuses: first, 0 FX fees on overseas spending. Compared to other cards, where you may incur a fee on top of the exchange rate when you pay in a foreign currency, you’re looking at 0 additional charges when using the DBS TravelLah! Debit Card.

Whatever purchase you make is converted at Visa’s competitive exchange rates, which are almost as good as what you’d find on a quick Google search, with no markup fees from DBS. Should you want to check, all you need to do is open your DBS PayLah! app (iOS | Android) to view the indicative exchange rates.

Plus, everything is charged in Singapore Dollars (SGD), so you are spared the hassle of pre-converting money or juggling balances in a digital travel wallet.

This new card works in over 150 currencies. In other words, it’ll see you through your Euro summers, Bali sojourns, and skiing in Japan, no sweat.

No cap on overseas ATM withdrawals

With this new debit card, you won’t have to beat the lunch crowd at The Arcade’s money changers, or find yourself paying above market rates at airport foreign currency exchange counters. That’s because DBS charges $0 in ATM fees on overseas cash withdrawals.

And the best part? There’s no cap on the number of ATM withdrawals, so you can access your money without worrying about interest charges imposed by the bank. You can also withdraw any amount, up to the daily TravelLah! spend limit of $5,000.

This is exceptionally handy if you’re the sort who walks around with no wallet or cash in hand – unlike in Singapore, many other countries still run on cash. So, instead of carrying a wad of cash around with you, the DBS TravelLah! Debit Card allows you to take out smaller amounts as you go.

Do note, however, that while DBS waives their fees, some overseas ATMs might still impose local withdrawal fees, which will usually be displayed on the summary screen.
