The Lobby gaming event at *SCAPE
PC games are fun and all, but there’s something about playing a good ol’ board game IRL that just hits different. If you’re a fan of the classics – like Dungeons & Dragons, Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), and Magic The Gathering (MTG) – then this upcoming event at *SCAPE is for you.
On 15th March 2025, level-up your skills at The Lobby, a gaming event where you’ll get to participate in D&D games, watch Pokémon TCG battles, and even meet local board game designers. P.S. – first-time players are totally welcome too!
What is The Lobby?

The Lobby is an annual gaming event hosted by *SCAPE, where players gather to battle it out in 1v1 or group matches, and share their gaming expertise. Last year’s edition focused on online games like Super Smash Bros and Rainbow Six Siege, while this year’s is all about tabletop board games. Here’s what you can expect:
Play D&D with experienced dungeon masters

Adventurers, get ready to enter the fantasy world of D&D alongside experienced dungeon masters from GuildHall, a local Dungeons & Dragons studio. For these games, you’ll be venturing into the ancient towns of “Eterneth” and “Ankare”.
Though a typical game of D&D usually lasts up to 4 hours per sesh, The Lobby will be hosting speedy 1.5-hour campaigns for new players to get acquainted with the game. Experienced players can embark on fun adventures with their friends, including new buddies made through the event.
Attend workshops with tabletop game experts

Aside from Dungeons & Dragons, avid gamers would’ve probably had the thought of creating their own board game cross their mind at least once.
If you’ve ever been curious about the mechanics of creating your own board game, The Lobby will be inviting local board game designers, such as Geoffrey Chia, to speak about their game designs and hold a workshop on how to start your very own. You’ll even get to try out a variety of locally designed board games and – who knows? You might even find a new favorite to add to your collection!
Meanwhile, those looking to hone their gaming skills can also attend workshops on world-building in D&D by Jason Koh, founder of Neo Tokyo Project, and how to level-up to become a dungeon master by Gerry, founder of GuildHall.

If you’re still tryna catch ‘em all, you’ll also be happy to hear that Pokémon TCG tournaments will be hosted here, so you’ll get to watch the pros whip out their best cards in exciting live matches. There will also be other tournaments happening simultaneously, including Magic: The Gathering and Marvel United, so be sure to catch all the action!
Besides joining in the excitement and spectating the matches, attendees can bring their own card collection down to play with their friends and even trade cards with fellow players.
