Festive Arts Theatre in Tampines
With blockbusters being wheeled out of Hollywood every other week, keeping up with the latest flicks can get costly, especially if you’re a film fanatic. Well, I’ve got news for you; if you’d like to shave a couple of bucks off your tickets, swing by Our Tampines Hub (OTH)’s Festive Arts Theatre for your next movie night.
I’m sorry Easties, but good things must share right? That’s why we’re un-gatekeeping this lesser-known “cinema” in Tampines, with ticket prices ranging from $4-$12.
What is Festive Arts Theatre?
The theatre played host to the Malay Arts Festival back in 2017.

The Festive Arts Theatre is a theatre located within Our Tampines Hub, at its South Plaza on level 2. Built by the National Arts Council, its primary purpose is to serve as a facility to showcase various artistic and cultural programmes to Tampines residents.

When there aren’t any scheduled performances, the theatre is equipped to screen movies in 4K digital format, and presented with Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound system for an immersive viewing experience. The Festive Arts Theatre has a seating capacity of 400, and coupled with its incognito status, there should be plenty of space when you’re catching a movie here.
How much are tickets & what movies are showing at Festive Arts Theatre?
Should you be looking to plan a movie date at Festive Arts Theatre, you’ll be pleased to know that tickets here are pretty cheap when compared to the prices at conventional cinemas like Golden Village and Shaw Theatres.

According to their website, tickets start from as low as $6 and $4 for students and senior citizens respectively. OTH PAssion Card holders can snag tickets from $6, while everyone else can enjoy their movies for $8 from Monday to Thursday.
If you need more convincing, tickets over at Golden Village in Tampines Mall for the recent Deadpool & Wolverine movie will set you back $15.50 during peak periods AKA on Fridays and weekends, compared to the $12 you’d need to fork out at Festive Arts Theatre.

Do note that you won’t be able to purchase your tickets online, as the Festive Art Theatre’s website only allows you to view movie timings. You’ll have to head down to the theatre’s Box Office 30 minutes before the first screening of the day to purchase your tickets, which means you can’t buy your tickets days in advance either.
Tampines Mall is just a 5 minutes walk away from OTH.

Food-wise, you’re out of luck here as the theatre does not have any food stands around. However, the staff have been noted to allow customers to bring in food and drinks purchased elsewhere. As such, make a stop at Tampines’ trio of malls to pick up some grub or visit OTH’s many fast food joints before sitting down for your movies.

As far as movie choices go, Festive Arts Theatre only screens one title at any given time. Currently, they’re only showing Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine, which happens to be rated M18 so the lil’ ones will have to sit this one out.
But, be sure to bookmark their website to keep yourself updated on their movie rotation. Right now, they’ve got the much more family-appropriate Moana 2 lined up for late November.
Plan a movie date for cheap at Festive Arts Theatre

Despite having lived in the East my whole life, it was only recently that I came to know of the existence of Festive Arts Theatre. Although you won’t get the IMAX experience here, it’s good to know that there’s a cheaper option that’s perfect for impromptu movie dates, especially if the nearby cinemas are fully booked.
