12 Best Hotels Near BTS/MRT Stations in Bangkok From $60/Night

Hotels near BTS/MRT stations in Bangkok

Bangkok is known to locals as Asia’s City of Angels, or to most as the land of delectable pad thai, lit night markets, and exhilarating tuk-tuk rides. With a dizzying array of things to do in Bangkok, it’s no surprise that this city is a popular vacay destination for many.

If you’re starting to feel the travel itch, start planning your ALs and book a year-end holiday. To help ease the load, we’ve rounded up these hotels in Bangkok that are both affordable and accessible so you won’t have to spend tons of money on your accommodation and transportation.

How to take BTS or MRT in Bangkok?

The BTS and MRT are 2 different subway systems in Bangkok. The BTS SkyTrain has 3 lines: Sukhumvit, Silom, and Gold. Most tourist stops are on the Sukhumvit and Silom lines. The Gold line only services the fairly new IconSiam development. You can buy fare tickets at each station, with prices starting from ฿17 (~S$0.63) for 1 stop.

For convenience, you can purchase a One-Day Pass (฿150, ~S$5.50) that’s valid for unlimited travel only on BTS lines for a whole day. If you’re staying in Bangkok longer, consider getting a Rabbit Card. The card is ฿100 (~S$3.69) and you must deposit a minimum of ฿100 into the card to use it. Top-ups can be done via cash or credit card at any BTS station.

Get the Rabbit Card before you travel.

You can’t use the Rabbit Card at Bangkok MRT stations, though. There are 4 lines available: Blue, Purple, Yellow, and Pink Lines.

If you’re crossing from the BTS to MRT, you’ll need to purchase an additional token to make your journey. Tokens can be bought at any station, with fares costing between ฿15-฿40 (~S$0.55-S$1.48) per trip. Day passes are ฿120 (~S$4.44) each.

A couple of the hotels we’ve featured are near stations along the Airport Rail Link (ARL). This is a direct line from Suvarnabhumi International Airport that’ll bring you to the city centre. Similar to the MRT, you’ll need to buy single-trip tokens at any station per trip (฿15-฿45, ~S$0.55-S$1.66). Alternatively, you can buy a stored-value card from the station from ฿200 (~S$7.37).
