After Singapore’s vaccinated travel lane (VTL) arrangement with Vietnam allowed Vietnam residents quarantine-free entry into the island nation from 16th March 2022 onwards, more good news has followed.
From 31st March 2022, 11:59PM, all VTLs to Singapore will be lifted and replaced with the Vaccination Travel Framework (VTF). Under the VTF, Vietnam is classified as a country under Singapore’s General Travel Category, allowing all Vietnam residents to enter Singapore quarantine-free.
There’s good news for Singaporeans travelling to Vietnam too – they can now enter Vietnam without a visa for up to 30 days, just as before the pandemic.

Singapore’s Vaccination Travel Framework is a simplified travel arrangement for all travellers, including short-term visitors, into the Lion City as the country opens up to tourism and the Covid-19 Omicron wave comes under control.
Those planning to travel to Singapore should use the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA)’s self-help tool to find out their latest entry requirements. After that, fully vaccinated travellers should refer to the ICA’s Checklist for Fully Vaccinated Travellers to find out what pre-departure tests they require. This guide also applies to all travellers aged 12 or below regardless of vaccination status.
Partially vaccinated or unvaccinated travellers’ guidelines are here.
Before entering Singapore, you must:
Do note that groups travelling together with different traveller statuses, such as a family with both Vietnamese and Singaporean citizens flying together, will have different travel requirements when entering Singapore.
The Vaccination Travel Framework was announced on Thursday, 24th March 2022, at a Singapore Multi-Ministry Task Force press conference regarding the country’s relaxed Covid-19 measures. A summary of the announcements is here.
Just as before the pandemic, Singaporean citizens can now enter Vietnam visa-free for up to 30 days, according to Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For now, visa-free entry for up to 15 days is available for citizens of Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Belarus too.
Visitors from all countries are strongly encouraged to read up on travel guidelines from Vietnamese government sources as well.
These include:
It’s time for many families, loved ones, friends, and business contacts to have their much-deserved reunions or face-to-face meetings in Vietnam.
To have a smooth and uneventful trip, do take note of all local Covid-19 guidelines, wear a face mask and sanitize your hands regularly, and keep up social distancing to minimize the spread of the virus even as its spread comes under control.
