Since the emergence of a new cluster yesterday, Saigon authorities have gone into an overdrive to battle domestic infections.
To mitigate the spread of the virus, local authorities have imposed further social restrictions, banning all inbound flights to the city starting from today, 28th May 2021.
Here’s a summary of all you need to know about the new measures.

Starting from 28th May, non-essential services and gatherings of more than 10 people will be banned.
Hair parlors, beauty salons, libraries, night markets, parks, and outdoor gyms will shut down until further notice. Dine-ins will be strictly prohibited, and F&B establishments must switch to providing take-outs or home delivery services only.
Hotels, guesthouses, or any accommodation service providers will also stop receiving guests from today, according to Nguoi Lao Dong.

Restaurants inside hotels can remain open for in-house guests, but have to make sure that the tables are spaced out at least 2M between each other, in accordance with social distancing rules.

On 27th May 2021, Saigon’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport announced its ban on all international inbound flights until 4th June.
Neither commercial nor repatriate flights may arrive at the airport, on the grounds that the COVID-19 pandemic is escalating.
Passenger flights originating inside the country may still land at the airport, according to Vietnamnet.
Given the recent spike in domestic cases in Ho Chi Minh City, stringent safety measures should be implemented to curb the virus’s spread.
Even though social restrictions can bring about inconveniences, they still function effectively to curtail the increasing COVID-19 caseloads.
We hope that the new measures will be good for all of us in the long run. Until then, hang in there and stay safe.
