Since declaring COVID-19 a national pandemic on Tuesday, Vietnam has been taking drastic measures to contain the disease, including banning all international flights and implementing a nationwide social distancing policy.
However, as many people returning from abroad in the second half of March are still in quarantine for testing and not everyone infected at COVID-19 hotspots in the metropolises of Hanoi and Hồ Chí Minh City has been accounted for, we are still seeing headlines reporting new COVID-19 cases on a daily basis.
Since our last update on Wednesday, 21 new patients have been discovered, pushing the total COVID-19 tally in Vietnam to 233 as of 9AM, 3rd April 2020.
But while that might sound disheartening, let’s not forget that there is another, more positive number that’s also going up by the day. 30 previous-confirmed cases have made full recoveries since the beginning of the week, meaning Vietnam has now cured a total of 85 COVID-19 patients.

Yesterday, the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in Hanoi also discharged 12 patients.
10 additional recoveries were reported this morning, including 3 from the Bình Thuận province and 7 from Hồ Chí Minh City. This places the total number of recoveries in Vietnam at 85.
So far Vietnam has been doing great on containing the COVID-19 pandemic. Hopefully we’ll see more recoveries in the near future.
For now, let’s do our part to protect the community by staying at home.
