Over the past couple of weeks, the Vietnamese government has implemented multiple regulations to contain the spread of COVID-19. It seems these efforts are yielding some results, as there have only been 5 new reported cases since our last update yesterday.
Meanwhile, 3 COVID-19 patients have now been confirmed to be free of the virus after testing negative 3 times in a row.
Vietnam has reported 5 new COVID-19 cases since yesterday. The total tally is sitting at 153 as of 10AM, 27th March 2020.
Case 149 is a 40-year-old male from Long Biên District, Hanoi. He was a freelance worker in Hessen, Germany, before returning to Vietnam on 23rd March. He was quarantined on arrival.
Case 150 is a 55-year-old male from District 1, Hồ Chí Minh City. He returned from Texas with his wife on 13th March. On 18th March, he went to the Family Medical clinic at 34 Lê Duẩn Street, Hồ Chí Minh City, for a health checkup. He was then moved to Hồ Chí Minh City’s Hospital of Tropical Diseases and then quarantined at Cần Giờ Hospital.
Case 151 is a 45-year-old Brazilian woman who lives in District 2, Hồ Chí Minh City. She is a colleague of Case 124 and they reportedly had close contact. She was quarantined on 23rd March.
Case 152 is a 27-year-old female who lives in Tân Phú District, Hồ Chí Minh City. She is the sister of Case 127. Upon learning of her brother’s condition, she practiced self-quarantine and was later moved to Cần Giờ Hospital on 23rd March for quarantine.

3 COVID-19 patients who have been receiving treatment at the Đà Nẵng Hospital, including 2 British men and a Vietnamese woman, have now been confirmed to be free of the virus after their tests came back negative 3 times in a row.
The two foreigners traveled from London to Hanoi on 2nd March on Vietnam Airlines’ flight VN0054. At least 16 people on that flight have tested positive for COVID-19.
The Vietnamese woman, on the other hand, is a saleswoman at an electronics store in Hải Châu District, Đà Nẵng. She had contact with the two British men on 4th March, when they visited the store as customers. She tested positive on 10th March.
The new recoveries go on to show that the COVID-19 pandemic, while concerning, is not uncontrollable. As long as we do our part by following the government’s guidelines, avoid public gatherings, and practice good hygiene, Vietnam will surely get through this crisis.
