My first trip to Modesto’s was because my dad wanted to try traditional, firewood pizza, a refreshing change from the usual Pizza Hut.
Modesto’s has great italian cuisine at prices that won’t break the bank. On our first trip there, we weren’t sure what to order, and since we weren’t very hungry, we decided to get 2 pastas and 2 pizzas to share among 5 people. The pastas tasted awesome! They were served hot, and were tasty and flavourful. The 5 of us polished it off in no time!
What really made an impression on me was the firewood pizza. The crust was thin, crispy and fragrant – indeed worlds apart from other pizzas! Modesto’s pizzas are much simpler as there are less toppings as compared to places like Pizza Hut. This actually tastes better, but if you prefer more toppings on your pizza, Modesto’s gives you the option of adding extra toppings for additional costs. I’ll surely visit Modesto’s again, and you should too!
Pasta portions were generous (or maybe that's because my friend's mom works there). We've been there a couple of times and we enjoyed their pasta and pizza. While they definitely don't serve the best pasta or pizza around, I don't think there was anything worthy of complaint. Dessert was great too, especially their chocolate lava cake and tiramisu. The latter was fantastic, one of the better tiramisus we've had.
I was looking to satisfy my pizza cravings one day and I stumbled onto Modesto's. Glad to say, I am not disappointed.
Modesto's is a nice italian place that serves excellent fire wood pizzas. For appetizers, I've ordered the Antipasto Italiano ($26) which is a combination platter. Their Parma ham on rock melon is awesome. the sweetness of the rock melon complements the mouth watering parma ham. For main, we ordered the regular sized Proscuitto Crudo pizza ($29.50) which consists of parma ham, cheese and tomato. Once again, the parma ham is cured to perfection but it is in large pieces and we ended up having some slices without the toppings and some with too much ham on top.
Excellent service, mainly because we are the only customers on a Monday noon. They serve iced water without us prompting them and the waiter is kind enough to ask if we are enjoying the meal. Rare to see in Singapore.
Overall, great food, great ambience, great service. Will definitely come back for more.
Modesto’s is a great Italian restaurant that is great for any occasion.
Some of my favourite dishes are: their Gnocchi. It’s difficult to find a well- done gnocchi dish here in Singapore. In the past, I’ve had those that are made with too much flour, resulting in a very doughy taste. However, Modesto’s Gnocchi is done perfectly, and it’s not too chewy nor one- dimensional. Another one of my favourites would have to be the Linguine Alla Modesto, which is a seafood linguine that’s cooked in a traditional Italian style. It’s fresh, flavourful and really hearty. Also worth trying would be their Tiramisu. It’s not too rich, but the portion is rather huge so do share or eat it if really hungry!
Modesto's at vivo city shopping centre is a very large outlet, perfect for families. It is located on far end of the mall next to Starbucks. Staff are friendly and efficient, the food is gorgeous and most important of all, they have generous portions. Their pasta and pizzas are fresh and tasty, and most definitely worth their price. It is an affordable Italian restaurant to bring a date, friends or family!
P.S. Look out for their promotions on their Facebook page and fun courses provided for kids (pizza-making classes).
