Like most yogurt and ice cream shops, samples are readily given when requested. One thing I noticed about Yami though, is that instead of giving you a half spoonful of product that you requested to try, they sample their yogurts in little cups. It was refreshing to notice how generous that comes across. If you are new to frozen yogurt, I would suggest trying the peach flavoured one as the taste is mild but not too plain like the original ones. Some toppings you can add along with your yogurt are fruit pebbles which are colourful sugared cereal. If you want something healthier, you can go for the raisins or mueslis. Alternatively, you may also choose fruits like kiwi and honeydew as a topping.
Yami yogurt is a great alternative to other sweet (and usually unhealthy) desserts such as ice cream. Combined with the good bacteria and live cultures, frozen yogurt make a healthier choice.

Being one of the best makers of frozen yoghurt, customers are given 3 yoghurt flavors to choose from aside from the original flavor. There will also be new flavors of the month and as usual it tastes great when accompanied with the various toppings available! Still, while I declare my love for the peach flavored yoghurt (makes one feel like getting the real peach itself) I love the original/natural flavor all the same. Slightly sour but still melts in your tongue with a cooling- feeling! Love it when I eat it with toppings of ‘fruit pebbles’ or raisins - the blend of a slightly sour, sweet and fruity taste does give the tongue quite an excitement!
As for the outlets, they are all quite small, so if you’re just with that one buddy, it would be nice to sit and chat while enjoying your yoghurt. Typically found in many shopping malls too, (the one at lot 1 shopping mall has no seats though) Otherwise, simply take away! Yami yoghurt is quite the option when u feel like having dessert or wish to replace that fatty ice cream u crave to enjoy- because yoghurt is a healthier alternative after all!
Optional Information:
Not only is the taste not especially fulfilling, but the portion is tiny as well. For a dollar more, you can get a much larger portion at most other yogurt shops. Once, I bought yami yogurt together with my friend and she was sorely disappointed when the lady simply took a cup of yoghurt out of the fridge and gave it to her! Although it was still edible, it was more frozen than usual and did not have a creamy texture so she had to scrape it to eat it. This spoiled her mood and she felt totally cheated!
Their toppings are also cheaper than other shops though, and they give around the same quantity. Another good point is that they always have a wide range of flavours such as Peach and Pineapple, although I do not really like most of the flavours. This is a personal preference so perhaps there are others out there who like them.
I feel that I would rather pay more for a better tasting, creamy and bigger cup of plain yoghurt than go for Yami Yoghurt’s tiny portions.
Optional Information:
For just a few dollars, you can get a regular cup of natural yoghurt. For those who prefer flavours, Yami also has a few other flavoured yoghurts, with peach flavour being the top favourite! Usually, just a cupful itself would be satisfying enough, but Yami also also offers a wide range of toppings, from cereals to chucks of fruits and nuts, you will definitely be spoilt for choice! I especially love fruity pebbles on my natural yoghurt. I would have it everyday if I could!
If you frequent the place, you will also get a loyalty card whereby you can get a stamp with every $3 spent in a single receipt. Accumulate enough and you get a free yoghurt! What are you waiting for? Zoom in to the nearest Yami Yoghurt outlet and try it for yourself!

The yogurt at Yami Yogurt is creamy, neutral, and not as tart as other yogurts. On its own, the orginal froyo’s a little bland. But that’s why you top it up with fruits and cereals for flavor and crunch, and it's the perfect munch! I personally like the peach flavoured one the best for its sweet, fuzzy and refreshing taste. A word of caution: the service sucks so don't expect happy, cheery staffs.
Though I doubt that it's as healthy as it claims to be, I think Yami Yogurt is well-worth the calories without burning a hole in the pocket.

Then, I was rather taken aback because in the past, I can't really differentiate between all the yogurt stores, they simply taste the same but all my friends were going on about which tastes milkier, which is more pricey, which one has more of that ice-cream texture.
My first taste of Yami, had me going "Whoopwhoop!". It was really good, much better than my previous tries at other frozen yogurt stalls. It isn't really of the ice-cream consistency, but I love the milky taste it brings. Price-wise, not one bit over-the-roof!
Their Peach flavor rocks my socks!
Optional Information:
In the recent years, many other yogurt chains have sprouted up and I have to admit that these new chains' yogurts are smoother and sweeter. However, I have compared Yami Yogurt's prices with a popular yogurt chain's store and Yami Yogurt is still more affordable.
If a simple, slightly granular, good ol' fashioned yogurt treat is your thing, head on down to Yami Yogurt. Its yogurt is less sweet compared to those from the new yogurt stores and I believe Yami Yogurt has been around for good reason.
For me, their Peach Delight is a healthy and delicious treat as well as a walk down memory lane.
Optional Information:
All in all, Yami yoghurt is really not a place to go to if you are starving and desperate for something filling to eat! I would strongly advice you to spend your money elsewhere.
Now for the downsides.... The pricing. It is rather ridiculous. For such a small cup, I pay as much as up to $3. Add in the toppings and the price raises by about 80 cents to $1.50. At this rate, it is much cheaper to just buy the toppings individually from NTUC and sprinkle it on the yogurt yourself. I love coming here, but the prices really put me off.
Optional Information:
Well what I really do not like about yami yogurt is the small serving size. Like it just takes a ravenous me + a tablespoon to finish the yogurt in 2 bites! no kid! They swirl the yogurt in such a way whereby the center is empty. I know, bummer.
Other than that, it is pretty much similar to other yogurt stalls like frolick and yoguru.
I know I know, what a Singaporean. So cheapo. But really though, why pay the approx same amount for less yogurt when you can get it from yoguru/frolick?
I'd only eat Yami yogurt when I have no choice- froyo crisis or something.
Optional Information:
The taste of the plain yoghurt is good, nonetheless. My favourite pairing is the regular yoghurt with granola, to give myself illusions of how healthy it is. (Deep down, I know it can't be true. Low calories are still calories!!)
If Yami Yoghurt just changed the size of the cup, I would probably be more willing to pay for it, even if I know it's just visual trickery. They should probably also focus on expanding the range of flavours and toppings available, which other froyo chains offer. Will consumers really buy Yami yoghurt just because of the health benefits?
Optional Information:
However I find the ingredients is really fresh and sweet, freshness is guaranteed. Yogurt also aids in the digestion thus it is good to buy better quality one. Not only does it satisf your sense of taste, it is also good for your intestines. As for the toppings, you have a wide selection of nuts, fruits, cereals to choose from. Because there are only a few tables allocated for the shop, you normally need to carry the yogurt around and there will be no place to sit down.
Also, the yoghurt always tastes so refreshing and I don’t feel guilty even after consuming the entire take home pack by myself! It is unlike other yoghurts which are soggy in texture and has a very strong taste in their flavours. Yami Yoghurt is generally more solid and the flavours are just nice but not overwhelming. I will always order the jumbo cup (mixed peach and natural flavour!) to share with my partner.
But one downside thing I’ve to point out about this yoghurt shop is that their staff can be rather impolite in most of the stores I frequent (especially Ion). The staff are impatient when taking orders, give rude replies and almost never put a smile on their face. As much as I love Yami Yoghurt, their lousy service is deterring me from visiting there more often. They definitely need to brush up on their service.
