Me love me cookies

We all know their iconic smell. The tendrils of the scent of freshly baked, chocolate chip cookies waft into your nostrils and wrap around you, pulling your helpless, salivating, body towards their store. Just me?

I jokingly refer to Famous Amos cookies as ‘atas’ cookies among my friends, because boy, are they expensive. I usually end up at Subway whenever I need a strong dose of cookies, but Subway’s soft cookies are no replacement for Famous Amos’s crunchy, crumbly cookies. If my cravings hit on days when I feel particularly rich, a.k.a at the start of my allowance, I’d usually get 100g of Chocolate Chip and Pecan - the nuts just add to the crunchy goodness.

Instead of Chips Ahoy, I usually get Famous Amos in NTUCs too. Though not freshly baked, it still tastes as good, and is definitely a worthy substitute nonetheless!

Cookies!!

Famous Amos Cookies is one of the first few cookie shops in Singapore. When it first hit the stores many years back, it was extremely popular and Singaporeans would queue hours just for a taste of the cookies. It then expanded and opened many more outlets in Singapore.

However, the popularity of the cookies have waned in recent years as chocolate chip cookies are extremely easy to make at home. While famous amos boasts that it has a secret recipe, it is now all over the internet. (whether they are credible or not, im not sure) Hence, many famous amos shops have closed down nationwide with a few surviving shops such as in Orchard Cineleisure, Parkway Parade and Bedok Mall.

I mean, who would pay $7 for a bag of cookies you can bake yourself in the company of friends and family?

How do their cookies smell sooooo goooood? I find it extremely difficult to stop myself from buying a bag of cookies whenever I walk past one of their outlets. The distinct aroma of their cookies is sure to tempt ANYBODY, whether they eventually give in or not.

My favourite cookie flavour is the White Chocolate Chip. Even as I'm typing this, I can see the cookies vividly in my mind and my craving is getting stronger by the millisecond. I highly recommend their cookies to everybody, young and old. They will delight you. For sure.

One thing that stops me from getting their cookies as often as I would like, is the price. I don't remember exactly, but a 100g bag can cost about $4 to $5. Having said this, perhaps their cookies can be reserved for special occasions, as gifts to friends, or as a once-in-a-while reward to yourself.

Famous Amos cookies really beat out that notion that once businesses expand into huge franchises, the quality of their food declines severely. Their cookies always have the perfect degree of crisp and softness to them and is rich in flavour. Nibbling on it while it's still warm is simply a great feeling. All that buttery goodness melting onto your tongue, agh.

I also really like their packagings. I have a crazy fixation on minimalism, and Famous Amos manages to get cross that "these cookies are from Famous Amos" without printing their logo all over the place. They keep their packagings simply yet still pretty. I personally think it'd make a good gift when you're in a hurry and don't have the time to wrap your gift, or maybe it's just me liking Famous Amos too much.

The only offset to Famous Amos is its price and disproportionate small portions. But it's worth it to pay so much for such quality, I suppose.

Famous Amos 's baked goodies are just one of my favourites ! Be it their cookies, their muffins and their brownies, oh my gosh, they are all such a delight! I have no idea what they did to the batter but to me, their baked goodies have this distinctive taste that totally differs from the others. It almost seem as though that they are ''branded products". I mean not only they taste excellent, they are actually quite pricey and for that, I usually get the smallest pack which is at 100g and it costs me around $5 ? Nevertheless, I think its worth every penny!

The usual choices for me would normally be the Chocolate Chip and Pecan Bite-Size Cookies as well as the Rocky Road Chocolate Muffin or Chocolate Chip Brownie with Macadamia Nut. The Chocolate Chip and Pecan bite-sized cookies are just simply rich and sweet. Oh, and yes, definitely, crunchy! The Rocky Road Chocolate Muffin is basically a huge chocolaty muffin with toasted walnuts as toppings and they are so moist ! It is rather filling, so I guess its best if you share it with someone because you won't be able to finish it by yourself. Last but not least, the Chocolate Chip Brownie with Macadamia Nut, a little clingy on the tongue, suitable for all the chocolate lovers out there. Rich with chocolate, you can literally feel the chocolate melt in your mouth and the Macadamia Nuts add the perfect crunch to the brownies with every bite. Simply, scrumptious in satisfying your sweet tooth! A must try !

I have a confession - I cannot resist Famous Amos cookies! whenever I take a bite of their super-crunchy Macadamia Cookies, I cannot help but feel my utmost gratitude to the person who first invented this recipe which has mesmerized cookie-lovers all the world over.

Their cookies are the crunchiest I've known, and every single cookie flavour of theirs is simply the best! I don't know how they do it, and I'm hoping they never stop, but the taste and aroma combine to create an unbeatable snack! Suitable for all occasions, or even as gifts, these cookies have a knack of munching their way to your heart!

They're a little pricey, though, and their prices have been steadily increasing over the years. This is one of their few drawbacks. But the fact that they're still going strong in Singapore can only mean that there're no shortage of people for those delightful little munchies!

Famous Amos has been around for many years and I believe I can say that it has one of the best chocolate chip cookies around. Every time I pass by their outlets, I smell the cookies and get tempted to look but I stay away because of the price. Even the smallest packet is considered expensive.

My favourite flavour is the chocolate chip with macadamia and recently I have also tried the butterscotch chip with pecan. Both are delicious, sweet and crunchy with lots of melted chocolate chips that is oh-so-good. The cookies are always fresh and the standard has never dropped.

After eating one, you would want a second piece and one packet is never enough. I can just eat this the whole day. Of course, it is heaty and might cause a sore throat easily. I do not really buy this as the price does not substantiate the amount. However, I sometimes get the ready made and sealed packets at the supermarket which is not as good but is a cheaper alternative to satisfy my cravings.

My all-time favorite cookies. If you haven't tried Famous Amos, you will never get famous. Kidding! But really, try it! You won't regret it. The smell is already promising enough. Your nose will not lie.
I often get their cookies almost every single time I walk past the store. I blame the free smell and my weak resistance towards temptations. I get the smallest pack (100g) though, since their cookies aren't exactly cheap or average priced. Its quite expensive for 100g of cookies but I must say that the price is worth it! I enjoy every single bite of it and I get disappointed when I finish my last cookie.

My favorite would be the white chocolate macadamia cookie and the original chocolate chip cookie. Prices vary a little across the different varieties but nothing too wide. If you are craving for a muffin, Famous Amos sells them too. I haven't tried the muffins but it looks very chocolatey to me, I hope it isn't brown coloring though. It looks so delish and promising. If you are looking for something to give to your loved ones, specially packaged cookies are also available for sale. Customized cookies (you can replace the traditional birthday cake with a huge cookie!) are also available! Just be sure to order in advance.

Famous Amos cookies are, as the name suggests, famous; famous for its delectable taste, rich chocolate scent, as well as its relatively high price. The cookies are crunchier than other cookies, relatively hard, but nevertheless delicious. Their double chocolate chip is a must-try for chocolate lovers, because they are generous with the chocolates. The chocolate with macadamia nuts is a perfect mix between the chocolates and nuts, making the taste of the cookie more balanced and not as inclined towards the sweet side.

If you have seen the packet of cookies sold in snack shops or supermarkets, the taste of the freshly baked cookies are very different from the packed ones. The cookies are best eaten fresh, even if they are not warm. It is as if freshness itself is a taste that we are able to feel. The packed ones do not taste as nice, but that is probably the reason why it is much more affordable.

As you might have seen, the price of 100g ranges from about $6-8, which is considered to be relatively expensive for that amount. However, as an occasional indulgence, it is definitely worth the price. Be prepared to spend more, as it is hard to stop yourself from wanting more!

Famous Amos were the first fresh baked cookies that i purchased many years ago. Till now, the whiff of fresh baked cookies still overwhelmed me everytime i passed by the outlet at Jurong Point and i cannot stop myself from getting some to go.

My personal favourites are those with Macadamia nuts as i find that the choc taste blends very nicely with the Macadamia nuts. The freshness of the cookies is probably the best selling point of this brand. Although i can get Famous Amos from supermarkets, my perception is that those are simply factory made and have tons of preservatives in them. But buying them right of the oven, well that is a totally "fresh" experience.

The service staff at the branch is also great and often provided friendly service with great smiles on their faces. In terms of the value, well, i do wish that it was cheaper but for the occasional indulgence, the price is still worth it.

But i think one thing to note is that as i get older, my taste buds has start to change and the sweetness of the cookies seems to be getting too strong for me and the kilos are building up. But again for the occasional indulgence, well, what's a few more kilometres of running for the great taste of famous amos :)
