Any self-respecting partygoer is sure to know the ‘Zouk’ name, and with over 25 years under its belt, the club is one of the oldest and most popular party spots in the local nightlife scene.

Old doesn’t mean outdated, though. The behemoth has kept up with the times, moving over to a new location at Clarke Quay and is getting revellers all pumped up with its industrial-style interiors. By that, we mean brick-and-concrete elements inspired by underground rave clubs such as those found in London and Berlin.

There are cool new additions, too. Enter restaurant-cum-bar Red Tail Bar which serves up Asian fusion food (to line your stomach before drinking) or Capital, an ultra-luxe whisky and cigar bar.

But not everything from the old club at Jiak Kim is thrown out of the window. I love how the iconic dance stages of Zouk and Phuture are retained, and so are the hip-hop and R&B beats that characterise the nights.

And on big days where guest DJs take the stage, the two venues can be merged to form a mega dance floor – an added plus for those who’d like more room to show off those moves.

Zouk is the to go place when I'm with my usual clubbing friends. Though the place might not be of easy accessibility, it's still one of the best places that brings good memories. I've been there so many times that it feels so naturally good and safe. The music is good, the dance floor is great, there are lot's of events and DJs are frequently invited.

I attended a dance competition event, being part of the crew that organized DJ competition 'Live Mix Maestro'. There's a bar for you to chill if you prefer lounge music or laid-back music, there's Phuture for top40's Hip/Hop, and the good trance/house songs at Zouk.

Weekends are packed with younger age groups, usually between 18-23. Other nights may attract, older crowds such as Mambo nights on Wednesday. Weekend queue lines are long, so be early. It gets really crowded when A list DJ's come down.

Be prepared for cash and a cab right home, unless of course you'd rather walk for 30 mins, sleep at a bus stop and wait for the first train to come up.

I'll say that Zouk isn't just about clubbing, it has become a culture. It's the atmosphere, the people and the professionalism that makes it my club of choice. I met new friends, the good, the drunks, the ladies, the shufflers and ravers all in one place.

My first time clubbing was in Zouk and its still my go to place when I want to hit the town. Needless to say, Zouk is in a realm of its own. Its a world renowned club that's situated on this small little island in South East Asia and up to today that still boggles my mind.

I usually spend most of my time at Phuture just because I prefer the music there but every once in a while, Zouk itself is awesome to hang at because the energy there is amazing. And having to elbow people to move is fun too, in its own way. The first time I went I was blown away by the chandeliers. (I'm easily impressed)

Money wise, your not going to get excellent value no matter which nightclub you go to so, like anyone else would tell you, drink up before you get there and just dance the night away. Girls, make sure to cash in on ladies' night to save a couple bucks.

Getting too old for this
Overall Experience

Sometimes I wonder when I will ever get bored going to this place. It seems like every time when my CCA organises post exam party it is always held at Zouk. Well so throughout my 4 years of tertiary life, I have seen this place just a couple of times. Zouk, comprises of Wine Bar, Phuture, Zouk and Velvet Underground. Phuture plays R&B, main dance floor Zouk usually has guest DJs and Velvet plays house.

It gets really crowded when there are popular guest DJs, although I can't really judge accurately cause I've only been to one guest DJ performance. Sadly when the school buys out the venue the ticket sales never really hits the target and usually the place will be less crowded than usual. On normal days, Citibank members get free entries and 1-for-1 drinks at Wine Bar though, so that is pretty awesome. Getting too old for this kinda things, definitely a place to experience while you are young.

Zouk is definitely an iconic Singaporean club and this is a must-go, whether you're a local or foreigner. The highlight of Zouk is their ubiquitous Mambo Jambo night, where the entire dance floor is transformed into a mass dance disco and patrons boogie to 80s hits while performing synchronised hand movements. It is certainly an experience like no other and if you don't know the moves, just follow the regulars who will lead the crowd while perched high up on the dance podiums!

Mambo used to be held regularly on Wednesday nights but as it fizzled out in the past few years, it is now held on eve of public holidays instead. Elsewhere, The club is split into other zones namely Phuture, which plays hip hop R & B, and also Velvet Underground which caters to house music. Big name DJs ply their trade here at Zouk all the time like Dash Berlin, Avicii and Gareth Amery. Drinks on most nights are 1-for-1 before midnight and the club has coined a few of their own innovative drinks like 'meenion shots' which look like the minions from Despicable Me.

Overall, it's a place to let down your hair, forget about your worries and have a great night out with your pals.

Haven’t been the party person a year ago but after my first experience with Zouk in March this year, I haven’t since set foot into another club! Zouk sections out into Phuture, Zouk and Velvet, playing the music genres of Drum ‘n’ Bass, Hip-hop and Down-tempo.

Phuture- Where all the youngsters go
Zouk: About the same as Phuture but I find that the DJ seriously lacks musicality(pardon me). Like every time the song is about to reach the climax, they’ll change the song. ?!?!?!
Velvet: For the mature crowd, lots of LED lights.

Drinks are priced rather reasonably at the wine bar. Cover charge is $25 for the ladies and $33/35 for the men. Entry comes with 2 house pours! Though for the ladies, if your wallets are a little tight lately, try pulling some ropes and get your name included in the guestlist! *nudges* Hahahahah.

All in all, I love Phuture the best for their DJ-ing and music selections! Though it is the occasional sausage fest, with the right company and great music, I believe we could all make exceptions! Just take more care. Well, after all, being the 5th best club in the world.. how bad can it get?

This club is a very good platform for DJs as well as party go-ers, citibank card holders are entitled to free entry as well as 1 for 1 drinks at winebar (bottles not included of course) as well as StandChart Manhattan Card holders would enjoy free entry on fri&Sat with 2 free drinks

Attendance is always full on wednesdays and fridays. Many world renowned DJs have spun there and also spun for various events like Zoukout a yearly mega event that have featured names like , Steve Aoki, Tiesto, Benny Benassi, Afrojack, David Guetta, Laidback Luke, Ferry Corsten and the list goes on.

Normally on Saturdays Zouk always feature other overseas DJs like Trouse Brothers, ATB, Infested Mushrooms, Bloody Beetroots, Gareth Emry, Hardwell, Marco V and the list goes on. Recently Zouk has included Poptart every month for party people in the indie/electro scene which is very popular with the younger generation.

Very importantly i would give kudos to the staff working there, from the Owners, the Managers, The PR guys at the door (once in khaki blazers) to the Bouncers, the floor staff, the bar tenders and even the toilet aunty that always makes sure the drunks would be able to sober themselves up enough.

All in all i would give it a 9.5/10 for an average of all my experiences there i never fail to have an enjoyable time as well as the company of many friends who are also regulars of the clubs. Definitely a place for people who likes to groove to good music as well as shufflers(:

** I was a regular in zouk for about 2.5 years

Zouk is one of the most popular night-life destination in Singapore. It’s the top choice of many youngsters who are looking to party and club the night away.

If you are going to Zouk, do be prepared to see large crowds on the dance floor. This is especially the case on Wednesdays, which are “Ladies’ Nights” and entry for ladies is free. You will not get much space to move around, let alone dance to the music, as the crowd will be packed like sardines. An advice – the guys should dance around your own female friends to prevent them from becoming victims to any outrage of modesty, as there have been such cases before.

The common practice is to drink alcohol before entering Zouk, as it is definitely more costly buying alcohol inside. However, do be careful not to get drunk or wasted even before you get inside, as it is quite common for people to do so.

Nonetheless, Zouk is still the place to go to if you are looking for hot music remixes and the party atmosphere. The DJs there are also pretty popular. For one, DJ Ghetto did a pretty good job rousing the crowd.

The place to be on a Friday night
Overall Experience

4.5
Not just Friday actually, but Wednesday, Thursday (especially when there is a long weekend coming up) and Saturday, you get the drift.

Zouk is THE nightclub in Singapore, it was and still is. Having been to most nightclubs in Singapore, Zouk is still my favourite and the one I return to most often. Usually I would head over to the winebar located for a few drinks to catchup with my friends before heading in. The music at Zouk caters to different tastes as there are 4 different complexes, each playing a different genre of music. The vibe I get whenever I frequent Zouk is that I am young, wild and free, and that is what I want to be at least for that night.

Everyone knows what Zouk is and what it stands for, clearly this must mean something aye?
Well, Zouk is one of the oldest clubs in singapore and have been known to many as a place we can all have fun, fit for all ages.

After visiting so many clubs in singapore, I never fail to return to this place as Zouk is the only place where I can get my ultimate clubbing experience and I would recommend this club for any friends or tourists who are coming from overseas as this is the only place you can get the true blue clubbing experience here in Singapore.

As you already know, zouk has 4 different complexes, and I generally always frequent Phuture, Zouk itself and Velvet lounge. Despite the higher prices for the entry as well as the bottles which I open, I am more than willing to pay for the wonderful time and service which is comparable to none. Indeed, Zouk is the only place you can get solid music and awesome world-renowned DJs coming in on special nights for their events. Their calendar is always filled with popular DJs like David Guetta and Emma Hewitt who come into Zouk and get the party started!

Not to mention, their bouncers sure know how to make the place safe and provide a high level of security. There was once, a friend of mine actually got a very serious cut in her heels, the security personnel immediately escorted me out of Zouk through a special exit into the back where they had medics on standby and wasted no time in attending to my friend. Such awesome service for their patrons indeed!

Zouk is no doubt the only place to be if you want to have a crazy, wild yet safe night!
