Some new features were coded in on the site this morning to improve the user interface for our members.
- Online Status – You can now see if a user is online, should you feel like making friends and talking to them.
- PM button – You can now directly PM (private message) users here instead of having to go to their profile page.
- New reviewer alert – If you have less than 5 reviews, a message will show up indicating the user is new at the top of the review. How do you remove it? Simply post more reviews and it will automatically disappear. This is so readers get a better understanding of the reviewer’s history. Note that all disingenuous reviews will eventually be removed from the site, as stated in the terms and conditions.
- Awards – In place of helpful votes is a series of rewards to earn. Its now still in a primitive form and you can earn a badge for every 1, 10, 25, 50 and 100 helpful votes you get. You also get badges for every 1, 10, 25 and 50 friends you make.
- Star Writers – The top writers on TSL are recognised through a star award and a special blue background whenever they post so their reviews stand out more. Only the very best (top 5%) get in, carefully selected by the TSL team – so please don’t be disheartened if you’re not a star reviewer. You can still be a good writer and not get in, because its really tough. Keep improving on your writing and you definitely one day will become one. Good writing, a concise clear style + good content are the most important factors. I have not updated this in a while so expect to see some new star writers soon.
I have also tidied up the design of the site in miscellaneous areas to make it cleaner and more consistent. If you have any suggestions, do let me know! TSL will keep on improving based on our members feedback.
