The word ‘prison’ often forms a mental image of crime and metal bars, a stigma that clings on to many ex-offenders for a lifetime, and bars them from integrating back into society. But everyone deserves a second chance.
While working towards your fitspo dreams, help ex-offenders break free from the stigma by participating in the Yellow Ribbon Prison Run this year. On 15th September 2019*, the Yellow Ribbon Prison Run will be back for the 11th year running.
Participants can look forward to an exclusive-access running route, live performances by inmates, and more!
*Registration closes on 18th August 2019

Starting from Farnborough Road, near Changi Village, the run will take you through historical and prison sites including Tanah Merah Prison, Changi Prison Wall, and Lloyd Leas Community Supervision Centre.

But the nub of the run lies towards the end of the route, where you’ll be able to enter the Changi Prison Complex, which is exclusively open to the public for the Yellow Ribbon Prison Run. It’s a once-a-year glimpse to what’s behind the prison walls!
Fun fact: The name Yellow Ribbon was inspired by the song Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Old Oak Tree from the 1970s.
Enjoy music performances and snacks from food trucks
To end the race with a bang, there’s a carnival waiting for you at the finishing line featuring live performances, food trucks and experiential exhibitions inspired by true stories of ex-offenders’ rehabilitation journeys.

Up on stage, inmates from the Performing Arts Centre in Changi Prison Complex and local acapella group Apex Project will be there to jazz up the atmosphere.

Other than a deeper understanding of ex-offenders, the run has some cool items for you to take away too. This year’s race pack includes a PUMA runner’s shirt and shoe bag, spray mist bottle, finisher medal, as well as artsy coasters designed by inmates.
BONUS: Show your support and win prizes
Simply post a picture of yourself in a yellow shirt, caption it with a challenge you have faced recently, and hashtag #ChallengeYRSelf to stand a chance to win 3 pairs of complimentary tickets or $50 worth of PUMA vouchers.
