Hari Raya Aidilfitri’s coming in 2 weeks ,and it’s time to stock up on a whole lotta ingredients for your lauk-pauk and goodies to get together with your families and friends on this festive occasion!
Thankfully, Warehouse Club has got your back with their Hari Raya Open House*, happening from 1st to 17th June 2018. Unlike other supermarkets, you’ll feel like you’re shopping in a warehouse here with jumbo-sized items at every corner, huge savings of up to 50% on bulk buys up for grabs, and imports you can’t get anywhere else in Singapore.
Here are some items worth springing for this Raya.
*Non-members can purchase items at Warehouse Club during the open house.
Flashback to all your Raya dishes and you’ll realise that chicken is heavily ingrained in our feasts. From rendangs, to sotos and gulai, ayam not kidding when I say that the versatility of chicken makes it a must-stock this Raya.
SADIA’s Frozen Whole Chicken Griller 1KG ($5.45 for 2 packets, UP $8.50 for 2) is so cheap that you’ll have the luxury of making every chicken dish in your cookbook without burning a hole in your pocket. It’s healthy too as it contains no preservatives, artificial flavours and colourings, and is raised with 100% vegetable feed.
Chicken is love but nuggets are life. If you need savoury finger foods to counteract all the sweet kuehs, EC Tempura Chicken Nuggets 1KG ($5.90/pack, UP $6.65/pack) is your saviour with its bite-sized meat jewels that are trans-fat free.
They’re also good as an ammo against surprise visitors as these nuggets can be baked in under 15 minutes!
If you’re feeling creative this Raya, set yourself apart from other houses by whipping up Otak-Otak dishes like Penang Steamed Otak-Otak and Grilled Otak-Otak which can function as either a side dish or finger food.
The WK Muar Premium Otak-Otak Assorted 250g ($7.45 for 2 packs, UP $8.70 for 2) has enough meat to skewer either way, and is tasty to boot; having a firm texture, with the fresh minced fish meat and spices lending to its savouriness.
Your guests will need a lotta energy as they traverse from one house to the next. Give ‘em the carbo-load they deserve with the P.A FOOD Vegetable Spring Roll / Samosa Value Pack 100’s x 20g ($14.90/pack, UP $17/pack), which contains a whopping 100 samosas! Those who are health-conscious will be glad to know that it’s also vegetarian-friendly and cholesterol-free.
With the huge number of dishes that’ll leave your kitchen during Raya, your existing stoves might not be sufficient. If you need extra firepower, the Europace Induction Cooker ($49, UP $69.90) should do the trick with its 8 heating power levels, making it useful whether you wanna whip up a new batch of curry or keep your rendang warm.
It also comes with a free stainless steel cooking pot that you can use for your very own mini-steamboat.
The first thing you’ll notice about the Cretors Popcorn Chicago Mix ($14.50) is that it’s humongous; a full bag is bigger than my face. Tear open this hefty chest and you’ll uncover a treasure trove of crunchy, kernelly goodness, with each packet containing a mix of sweet butter caramel corn and cheese corn that’s coated in real cheddar.
No Raya-visiting is complete without downing on goodies and with Style Food Raya Cookies ($9.45 for 2, UP $5.65 each), you’ll get an assorted of mouth watering treats like Cashew cookies, Makmur cookies, and Sempre butter cookies at a very low price to cater to different taste buds.
Once you’ve indulged in all that delish Raya food, wash it down with Fanta’s carbonated drinks ($3/3 bottles, UP $1.80/bottle) which come in grape, orange and cherry flavours. That means an entire carton will only set you back $12!
You’ll need to serve those drinks in something and for those who’d like to avoid making multiple trips to the sink, these disposable foam cups ($1.90/packet of 20) are the answer! Each cup can hold 350 millimeters, roughly the size of a Coca-Cola can.
Of course, you could take it one step further by serving your guests drinks that are already in disposable packets such as Yeo’s ($8.90/carton, UP $10/carton), thereby eliminating any change of spillage over your furniture. Each carton contains 24 packets which means you’ll only be paying less than 40 cents per packet!
This Raya, it’s no secret that you’ll be spending a substantial amount of time in the kitchen, cooking all that delicious food for your guests. Minimise unnecessary trips to the supermarket by hoarding all the barang-barang you need from Warehouse Club.
From now till 17th June 2018, you’ll be able to shop without a membership from a wider range of brands that can’t be found in Singapore like Kirkland Signature and Carrefour, while enjoying huge savings of up to 50% on bulk buys.
